Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

The decesion not to hold this from home state Ohio, speaks volumes to me....this is the same guy who accepts his MVP award in Akron every year. I doubt it gets reported tomorrow, because ESPN will want as much suspense tomorrow as possible, but I think he's spending the day with the Knicks or Nets before heading to Bristol for the show.

I don't necessarily think it means hes leaving Cleveland. I think he just chose to announce it in a neutral state that isn't home to a team trying to sign him. If he were to announce it in Ohio somewhere it would be pretty obvious he is staying. I think he just wants to build up the suspense as much as possible so that when he announces hes staying in Cleveland it will be much more exciting for the Cavs and their fans.

Or, he could've simply gone through negotiations with some teams, picked one, and signed with it.

I don't disagree with that, but recognzing the backlash he'll receive for publically picking another team over the Cavs, the charity route was a nice way to soften the national blow. Not in Cleveland, but nothing would soften it here anyways....

I hope you're right, but imagine the PR clip and monumental moment he's leaving on the table by doing it in Bristol. That's a sports clip that'd be shown forever as fans exploded when he announced for the Cavs...

It's more that he isn't announcing in Cleveland/Akron...I just don't think he'd pass up that moment.

If I wasn't on my iPhone, I'd paste a picture of chicken little in here now. Some of you guys have been ridiculing the media for reading into every little thing and throwing out crazy speculation, yet you're doing the exact same thing. Nobody knows what is going on but LeBron and those closest to him. Everything else is just building drama. Where he's announcing means nothing. I still think he's going to stay a Cav. Nothing tangible has come out to change that. If I'm wrong, oh well. Luckily, for me, I'm so fed up with the NBA and this whole circus that I'm pretty numb to the whole thing.

the people of espn radio NY 1050 were bashing lebron all hour at 5 pm today about his decision to have the press conference and then donate the proceeds to the boys and girls club....they were saying why not just donate 2 % of your massive paycheck to the club....why have this big press conference when it takes 2 minutes to say at most that im going here because of this

Im obsessed because this really would be fanning the flames if he leaves.... If he really is torn about his loyalty to Cleveland having an hour special is like beating your dog with a bat instead of putting him to sleep. Why the fuck would he do that??? It is pissing on the state of Ohio to me. By the way he is going to Carmelo's wedding this weekend in NYC which could explain why he is in Conn...

exactly why hes doing that IMO

I dont see why he cant just donate money out of his pocket like every other millionaire?

if there were know "charity" involved the whole nation would pretty much be labeling him a self absorbed attention whore

and yea... hes about to become public enemy #1 in the state of Ohio
