Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what Miami does in the off season, because they are not a young team either. Assuming Rose comes back without damage to his psyche, Chicago is going to be a very tough team next year.

as for comparisons. LeBron is LeBron, MJ is MJ. Comparisons are just fodder for people who are [censored]ed off at LeBrons success. He isn't MJ, nobody ever will be.

Jordan never even played in a game 7 in the finals....let alone lost any

LeBron couldnt take being the man so he became part of a 3 player role player squad in Cryami with Wade and Bosh

It's comical how big of a bandwagon city Miami is, the [censored]ing Marlins can win the world series and have an empty stadium the next year....where are all of the "duh u" fans from the 90s now? Real Heat fans are few and far between
This is partly ignoring the fact that Jeffrey Loria is a fucking dirtbag and has no business being the owner of a professional sports franchise.

But yes, Miami is probably the worst city of fans in the U.S. What's the saying about UM fans? A mile wide and an inch deep? I think you could go ahead and apply that to all of Miami.

I agree that last night might be it as far as titles in Miami for LeBitch. Wade is a shell of his former self and Bosh, all his screaming aside, has proven himself to be a mediocre player at best. He'll probably get traded, but he isn't a guy you build around in any way shape or form so not sure what Miami could get for him.

Anyway, on Monday all of this talk will be done. Very disappointing as a Cavs fan that Miami won last night. My only hope is that they are together one more year so I can root against them. Rooting against the Heat is the only interesting thing going on in the NBA for me right now (until the Cavs get good again).

Similarly, can we put to rest the whole "LeBron isn't clutch" narrative that has persisted since he came into the league?

Why? It took nothing short of a Ray Allen miracle from bailing LeBitchness' ass out on back to back turnovers and a brick of a 3 shot. The media has just chosen to ignore that little sequence.

the commentary is substantially different if the best free throw shooting team in the NBA doesn't miss two in the final 30 seconds.

I'm saying look at the body of work. He has like the highest shooting percentage of any player in so-called "clutch" playoff situations since he came into the league.

I do believe the media does choose to willfully ignore some of his late-game turnovers and misses. But it's no different than the people who dislike him that also turn the cheek when he performs well late in games.

The facts are - aside from a great 2 year stretch against Detroit with an over-achieving Cavs squad, he was quite miserable in his first two Finals appearances. Refused to accept what has been said Mike Brown 'begged' him to play (in the post, until he got to Miami) then faked an injury during the Boston series. Promptly embarrassed the next year by a funny German guy. Now granted, last year, he carried that team. Won't hear me argue that at all. However, I just can't overlook the tendency he has to still pass off the last shot of the game in the regular season or throw up a few bricks in the late game of post season play.

And I'd like to see this shooting % stat you speak of that compares him to other players in "clutch" situations. Numbers don't lie, but from what my eyes have seen, that has to be a very, very skewed number.

Here it is:
Most game-tying/go-ahead FG in playoffs, final 24 secs of 4th quarter/OT since 2003-04
LeBron James 7-16 (.438)
Kobe Bryant 5-17 (.294)
Kevin Durant 5-12 (.417)
Dirk Nowitzki 5-12 (.417)

LeBron carried Miami in the last two games. He obviously has some clutch in him. The fact that the Spurs have NO clutch notwithstanding.

Before we start crying about how LeBron gets no respect from the "haters" let's all remember one thing: He begged for all of this.

He did everything that he could to bring attention to himself from the Decision to the Celebration ("not one, not two not three, not four, not five...").

He wanted every bit of the attention with none of the responsibility that goes along with it. He all but said that he didn't WANT to be clutch or be the man. He didn't want to have to do it all. I'm not saying he isn't a dazzling talent because he is, but he brought all of the scrutiny and "hate" on himself. It's going to be even more evident next season if they keep that team intact. Wade isn't getting any younger and Bosh isn't getting any bigger as Barkley pointed out. Add to the mix that Ray Allen is a year older and we've seen the best of Battier and all of a sudden the Heat are the Cavs of4 or 5 years ago.

He may regret the way that he handled his departure from Cleveland now, but tough shit. He took a giant dump all over a fan base that has had numerous giant dumps taken on it already. He made a spectacle of his arrival in Miami and so of course people are going to poke holes in every little thing that he does.

Fair? No. Warranted? Absolutely.
