Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

Maybe I can clarify...

His team isn't full of all-stars (Wade, Bosh) - but they still get the superstar treatment and obvious calls in their favor(s).

Plus, they whine like little bitches. That really had nothing to do with anything. I just felt like adding it.

after game 1

after game 2

 amazing the difference a day makes

 or it could be that players make the all-star game past their primes. Or it could be that I was simply using the widely-held convention that refers to players as all-stars when, you know, they made an all-star game all of 2-3 months ago. Not that I would expect anything that requires even the slightest bit of thought to be within your grasp. Nor have I backtracked that I think the Heat will win the series and the title after one game.

I would backtrack. I don't think they can take Indiana. They barely won game 1, and were lucky to be in game 2.

Miami played excellent in game one and almost lost. I didnt see game 2. Unless officials call a 10-20 per game team foul difference in the next few games in Miami's favor I don't see Miami winning the series.

LeBron is simply the best player on the planet, and its not real close at the moment. I understand why so many from Ohio are angry with him, but as a student of the game, he is a real pleasure to watch.

As a student of the game, I actually don't find him to be very skilled. Well... obviously he is skilled, he is the most dominant player in the league. But I can think of at least 10 guys in the NBA, currently, more skilled and talented than Lebron. Lebron relies solely on his athleticism and the defense/reffing of today. Could you imagine if Lebron played in just about any other decade? Almost his entire game consists of him putting his head down and shoulder into a player to get to the rim. I would say this wouldn't come as easily in the more physical days of the past. Nor would he get SO many gimmes against some of the great big men of the past. Think of the best big men of today, defensively. And then try and remember the last time you saw a team challenge Lebron at the rim consistently. Call this a bias, or whatever you want to say; but I keep watching him play, waiting to be blown away by his godly abilities, and I'm not. The media keeps sucking his cock, and that is the only thing I am a "Witness" of. He is, in my opinion, most likely the most athletic human being this world has ever seen, rivaling even Bo Jackson, but he is no Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Kobe Bryant, etc.

Imagine what would happen if he drove down the lane and that lane contained someone like Bill Laimbeer or Charles Oakley or any one of a number of Centers/Power Forwards who used to play the game like men instead of gay giraffes like Bosh or unskilled, hulking 7 foot monsters like Hibbert?

LeBald got knocked down a few times against a Bulls team that had no business beating them and whined about it for what, a month?

He wouldn't survive the LATE 90s, much less the early 80s through the mid 90s.....

maybe if he didn't flop, travel, and cry like a baby the entire time. I'm not from Ohio and don't give 2 shits about the Cavs......so there goes that excuse. now it just boils down to somebody who doesn't respect the game.

Unlike nearly everyone else, I'm not going to blindly proclaim this guy to be even close to Jordan's excellence. Yes, he puts up great stats. There seems to be an agreement that any missed free throw will not be attempted to be rebounded by any of his teammates, unless hotly contested by the opposing team. Just watch, Lebron will grab every rebound when the opposing team doesn't crash the boards on a shot or FT..I've noticed this. He gets at least a quarter of his points each game from inside 5 feet, I would bet. He is on a team with 2 other all star starters/olympians, the greatest 3 point shooter of all time, and arguably the best bench in the NBA. Of course he's going to rack up assists. I don't mean this to be a Lebron hate-fest, because he really is a legitimate All-Star in the league. But the way the game is played, the talent level on defense in the 3-5 positions, and the circumstances that he's surrounded with, there's no reason the Heat should lose more than 10 games in a season.

Lebron is bigger than Laimbeer and Oakley. Those guys made a name for themselves jacking up smallish guards as they drove to the hoop. James is 250+ pounds. I'd love to see Oakley and Laimber try their antics on someone bigger than them.

edit
who knows how accurate this is but Wikipedia had Oakley at 6'9" 240. Bill Laimber at 6'11" 245.

Laimbeer got in a lot of fights with Robert Parrish...I wouldn't chalk them up to small guy bullies only.
