Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

If you listened to media outlets and didn't watch what happened, you would think Lebron hit a half court buzzer beater to beat Satan's Army, 2002 Hurricanes, and the Monstars. Alas, it was merely a completely uncontested layup with Indiana's best shot big man on the bench. Not exactly Jordan over Ehlo, but it's being trumpeted as such. Fuck Lebron and all the media he has dangling from his penis.

I really get the feeling that James will be joining Irving, Noel, and another high draft pick next year in 2015. I can't wait to see all of you love James again. It's going to be entertaining for the other 49 states.

LBJ turned his back on the Cavs on national TV, so a lot of people in Ohio dislike him. If he came back, he would (at least implicitly, and likely more so) be admitting he didn't handle his departure that well and would be telling Cavs fans that he's going to try to help the team win. If Cavs fans were got over "The Decision" as a result, I'm not sure why that would be so ridiculous as to entertain the other 49 states.

giving up game winning layups is something Indiana does well

At least that one was challenged. Last night, Paul George woefully overplayed the in-bounds pass and there was nobody home to help. That bucket could've been the easiest LBJ's ever made.

At this point, it is what it is--LBJ's going to win another title with his team of All-Stars. Big surprise.

Beyond the game winner, the constant straight switches on pick and rolls, left George Hill to guard LeBron 1 on 1 with Hibbert on the bench as well. (As a sidenote, I don't care if LeBron has 70 lbs on you, staying in front of your man is all about effort and heart. George Hill had none last night. Two times LeBron dribbled right around Hill on simple hesitation dribbles. Hill just wanted no part of that match-up. In contrast, a guy like Rajon Rondo, Kirk Heinrich, Mike Conley, etc...those guys stick their noses where it doesn't belong. Hill needs to man-up.)

As a result of no interference whatsoever, LeBron had straight-on attacks to the rim. Vogel even made mention after the game that they were straight switching with the intention of keeping a body in front of LeBron even when over-matched. George Hill can't guard LeBron but if he keeps his body in front of him, it allows some help to come over. When Hill, or Paul George on the last play, provide zero resistance at all, it wouldn't matter if you had 7 Roy Hibberts on the court. That bucket is being made.

In my opinion, I'd rather have a wide-open Chris Bosh take an 18 foot jump shot vs. LeBron catching the ball free-throw extended. Vogel's excuse for keeping Hibbert on the bench is pretty hallow to me because I'd probably invite Bosh to take that shot if it means LeBron doesn't have a chance to catch the ball and go towards the hoop.

you can live with Bosh hitting a 18ft jumper for the win, not an uncontested LeBron layup, for sure.

Correct. Which is why keeping Hibbert on the bench makes no sense to me. If Miami sees Hibbert guarding Bosh and wants to try and exploit that with 2.2 seconds, by all means, have at it.

Sam Young had a horrible game. For a guy who is supposed to be a defensive presence, he was abused by whoever he was guarding. I just hated seeing Sam Young sprinting to the scorers table...I had a bad feeling about it. And although I don't believe Hibbert could have gotten to a solid help position, Sam Young didn't do anything at all. Like literally, just stared at LeBron as he elevated. I mean..do something. Make a tackle attempt...something.
