MEDINA, Ohio (AP) -- Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James was ticketed by the State Highway Patrol for allegedly driving 101 mph on an interstate highway.
James, who drives a 2008 Mercedes, was cited in a 65 mph zone on Interstate 71 near Medina at 2:43 a.m. on Dec. 30 -- his 23rd birthday.

Too bad he didn't talk to me. Those SOB's pulled me over for going 75 in a 65 once. 71 in Medina is a bad place to speed. He should have gone to Route 8 in Akron.

Plain Dealer columnist Bill Livingston talks about Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James and Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant

Wednesday, January 30, 2008 Bill Livingston

Plain Dealer Columnist
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. (Wait. Hasn't that been done before?)
Less certain is that LeBron James had done before what he did in the final 20 seconds against Kobe Bryant in Sunday's Cavaliers victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Matched up against Bryant, the Cavs leading by a point, James waved off Drew Gooden as he loped over to set a pick. This was going to be settled one-on-one. He eyeballed Bryant, then dribbled hard to the right and used the clearance no man as big as James should be able to get against a defender as quick, athletic and determined as Bryant to stick a swished 20-foot jumper right in Bryant's face. James pumped a fist and screamed in triumph.

That sucked. Lebron kicked our asses.

Could be a back breaker for such a young team as Portland that has already been on a little bit of a down swing after playing such hot basketball...

Roy let LBJ get to him in the fourth...He should of let Outlaw go to work...I was glad that Roy continued to force shots over LBJ...Same thing Kobe did on Sunday as well...

CLEVELAND -- University of Akron basketball coach Keith Dambrot coached LeBron James as a high school freshman and sophomore.
Asked what stood out about the Cavaliers forward's leadership, Dambrot recalled times when his James-led Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary High School teams played against poor competition.
"Instead of getting 50 points, he'd go get 12 points and get all of his teammates involved," Dambrot said. "I don't think many guys would have the maturity to do something like that. When you have that kind of natural leadership ability, it's a thing you can't teach."

James fits measure of a true MVP

We hear frequently that sports is a ruthless merito cracy, that everything that moves is quantified, measured, and ranked. Style counts, but in the long run, sports are not about "how" but "how many."
We further hear that the appeal of sports is its immediacy. "What have you done for me lately?" says the disgruntled fan when the star player encounters a slight slump.
Yet when it comes to passing out the most important awards, these ideals are honored more in the breach than in the observance.
Take the Most Valuable Player award in the NBA, which LeBron James, in a perfect world, should do easily.

LeBron christens court in Big Easy
Cavs star at rec center rebuilt after hurricane

NEW ORLEANS: LeBron James gave a glowing new yellow basketball court made of 5,000 to 6,000 pairs of ground-up sneakers the ultimate christening Thursday.
The Cleveland Cavaliers star ran layup drills with youngsters. James dedicated a playground at the St. Bernard Recreation Center, a neighborhood about 15 minutes from downtown still rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina.
The project was paid for by State Farm Insurance and is the first developed by the
James Family Foundation, which has plans for others across the country.
But James looked more in his element when he went inside and hit the court, one of five refurbished by Nike in New Orleans. Seattle SuperSonics rookie Kevin Durant joined James in the layup line. Also participating in the event was Brandon Roy of the Portland Trail Blazers, Lisa Leslie of the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks, running back Deuce McAllister of the New Orleans Saints, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin and James' mother, Gloria.

NEW ORLEANS In a proud city still restoring its unique beauty, the Eastern Conference repaired its own image.

Ray Allen scored 28 points, making three straight 3-pointers in the final 3:15, and LeBron James added 27 as the East, widely considered the NBA's weaker half, beat the Western Conference 134-128 in Sunday night's All-Star Game.

Last year, the West humiliated the East in a 153-132 rout in Las Vegas when Kobe Bryant and Co. rewrote the event's record books. However, this time led by Allen's 14 fourth-quarter points and a stunning dunk by James with 55 seconds left, the East salvaged some pride and can return to the season's second half with bragging rights.

James, who added nine assists and eight rebounds, was the MVP for the second time in three years. He also won the honor in 2006.

James named East's top player for second straight month
Team signs Dickens, Thomas to second 10-day deals
UPDATE: 5:49 PM, Monday, March 3, 2008
Staff and wire reports

CLEVELAND Cavaliers star LeBron James is 2-for-2 in 2008.

James was named the Eastern Conference's player of the month for the second month in a row on Monday.

James averaged 30.2 points, 8.9 rebounds and 8.5 assists in 14 games in February, when he also became the youngest player in NBA history to eclipse 10,000 career points. The All-Star forward has won the award seven times in his career.

The league's leading scorer, James led the NBA in points per game (30.2) and scored at least 25 points in all 14 games. He led all Eastern Conference players in assists and ranked 11th in rebounds while posting nine double-doubles.

Over a three-game span from Feb. 19-22, James posted at least 25 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists in each game. He joined Wilt Chamberlain and Oscar Robertson as the only players to reach those marks in all three categories in three consecutive games.

Cavaliers game day
LeBron marches on to No. 2 spot He passes Austin Carr for 2nd in Cavs scoring; No. 1 is not far away
By Brian Windhorst
Beacon Journal sportswriter

Published on Thursday, Mar 13, 2008
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.: Another record falls.
LeBron James moved past Austin Carr and into second place on the Cavaliers' all-time scoring list Wednesday night against the New Jersey Nets. James scored 42points, giving him 10,267 for his career; Carr had 10,265.
If his average holds, he's on pace to pass Brad Daugherty (10,389 points) for the all-time mark sometime next week.
Carr, the No. 1 overall pick in the 1971 draft, had his career cut short because of injuries and could have set a higher mark for James to catch. But he's content with seeing James pass him.
