Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

How do you know there weren't a ton of Cavs fans at the ESPYs?

Also, what is a better story for the talking heads and reporters to tell at "Entertainment"SPN...

James did nothing wrong and time to move on
James is an arrogant douchnozzle that fucked over the city of cleveland

for 7 years the general theme on Buckeyeplanet has been that ESPN is not a news network and reports sensationalism to increase ratings and the ESPN talking points are distributed each morning and talked about on every show from Mike and Mike to the midnight sportcenter. Now all the sudden all the talking heads and reports on ESPN are the Holy Gospel regarding James being a douche.

I still beleive he takes a short term hit in the national view while a permanent hit in the city of Cleveland. If the ESPY's were in October after 90 days of a "colling off period" with little to no Lebron reportage, I'm sure there would be some boo's but not like if Rich Rogriguez was just shown on the Jumbotron just before kickoff of The Game.

Why would a Grizzlies fan want to slash his tires?

Thats kind of my point. While the national view is probably.."wow the decison wasn't the best idea and he should have called cleveland's front office first". It is far different from...."Lets slash his tires while he is visiting St. Vincent St. Mary's."

The problem is the tire slashers keep saying "national opinionin" is with them when defending their animosity. When in reality, the national opinoin is somewhere in between "meh, Miami prolly isn't the best move" and "F that MFing SOB Douchebag"

FIFY.

Guys don't get booed and ripped almost universally amongst members of the media for doing things that aren't the "best idea." It happens when you do something stupid and indefensible.

Keep trying to defend the guy though. Its like watching someone try to leap over the Mississippi - and almost as entertaining.

So you're saying it is somewhere about here:

But that doesn't mean the Grizzlies fan isn't sitting there saying "Wow, what an arrogant fuckrocket" without being invested enough in it to care about his tires, given that he was never in play for the Grizzlies.

If this is an attempted response to the post that Steinbrenner had better resources to buy a winner in NYC than he would have had in Cleveland, it fails miserably.

George made his money building ships. You don't need to be where the ships are built if what you are actually doing is moving the capital to see that they get built. It might help to be in NYC to get that done, but it isn't necessary. If it were Louis and Clark would still be waiting for orders. Further, with the exception of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, there hasn't been a ship built in NYC in some time.

Let's turn back to your original post. George was a smart enough businessman not to spend in Cleveland what he spent in NY on a baseball team. So why is it again that the people in Cleveland should be just as up in arms that George didn't buy the Indians and put that much money into them as he did into the Yankees, as they are with LBJ?

Another question. I'm from Columbus and have no dog in any Cleveland-Cincinnati rivalry. In fact, I like both cities a lot. But is it a coincidence that the majority of those ripping Cavs fans and supporting LBJ seem to be from SW Ohio?

So ESPN is the only place where there has been commentary criticizing LBJ? You know, the internet does have more websites than espn.com and BP, and your TV gets other channels besides ESPN. Just fyi.
