Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

Ok, that was admittedly phrased very poorly. My point was that Cleveland (for the most part, maybe not quite to the extent they have) was going to lash out at LeBron for leaving regardless of how he did it. I live with 2 guys from Cleveland and am friends with many others..it was already clear that many were going to attack LeBron if he left no matter what the circumstances. I wholeheartedly agree "The Decision" and all that crap was stupid and the hate stemming from that is justified. At the same time, there's no denying (and even reading back in this thread before all those shenanigans went down, you can see it) that many were going to despise LeBron solely for leaving. That, I think, it somewhat uncalled for. While he may have said he wanted to bring a championship to Cleveland, etc the reality is he was a free agent and as a neutral observer who cares very little about the NBA, I think it's unfair to demonize someone who has lived in the Cleveland area their whole life for wanting to experience something else. The people I referred to earlier -- those who were going to make him out to be the worst person ever even before he turned this whole thing into a [censored] show -- would certainly jump on the Z signing as another opportunity to bash him. Hell, one girl I know already has something about it in her facebook status. I agree with the people directing vitriol his way for how he handled the announcement that he was leaving, but anyone claiming there aren't a ton of people that were going to bash him regardless of how it went down is full of it.

Wrong on all accounts.

Sure you can see a lot of people were not going to be pleased about him leaving. Regardless of how he would have done it, he still made empty promises, said all of the right things, and has just been ridiculously good. He went from being a star to being worshiped and it didn't help matters that we all connected with him geographically, he was one of us. I think people reserve the right to feel jilted no matter how he left but I disagree that the anger and hate would have reached the point it has if it had been handled differently. He went on television and the only real emotion or moment of concern he demonstrated was immediately after he saw his jersey on fire. The rest of it seemed callous and cruel to a fan base that adored him.

You have neutral observers that commentate on sports for a living writing that what he did is the worst thing a player has ever done to a fan base. It is worse than Roger Clemens taking a dump on the Sox (Bill Simmons: The All-LeBron sound-off - ESPN) and it has made it difficult for the most objective journalists to respect how all of this played out (NBA free agency: LeBron James' reputation sustained more than just a blow from a jilted owner - ESPN).

Contrary to what you're saying, most of the real Cavs fans that I know are happy for Z and will welcome him back to this team. You would be hard pressed to find anyone that wants to see the wine and gold (now yellow) on LeBron James ever again.

he might of said that in the past 2 years since he has been up world wide wes and callapari's ass but ive always heard it would of been Ohio State and UNC

Yeah, I had heard the same thing. In fact I heard he favored UNC because of the Jordan connection and "no" I don't have a link.

The truth of the matter is it really doesn't matter since he was never seriously considered going to college anyway. He was always "straight to the NBA and the big $$$s".

If there's any silver lining in this, it's hopefully that Cleveland will now pull its head out of its ass, roll up its sleeves and start to address the real problems and challenges it faces.

A narcissistic, semi-literate man-child, his ghetto mother and band of hangers on were NEVER the answer to that city's problems any more than a new baseball stadium and a half a dozen sports bars were 20 years ago.
