Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

Report: LeBron calls paparazzi for Miami arrival

LeBron James diva act hit South Florida for the first time since leaving Cleveland to play for the Heat. He arrived in the middle of the night and made sure the paparazzi were on hand for his arrival.
Tabloid reporters were all called by LeBron?s people to the hotel at around 3:00am to get pictures of the prima donna basketball player arriving, according to Media Take Out.
Expect to see lots of LeBron on the gossip websites in the coming years from the Sunshine State. In Cleveland when you call the paparazzi, they have to fly in.
James doesn?t have that problem anymore.

LeBron James reserves two dozen hotel rooms for South Beach party

LeBron James and his posse will be partying in South Beach all weekend! Word is starting to seep out that the dunk demonhas reserved two dozen rooms and six poolside cabanas at the fashionable W South Beach, starting tonight and through Sunday. ? Palm Beach Post

This makes me wonder if he was influenced by his posse to go to Miami because they'd rather party on SoBe than continue to hang out in Akron & Cleveland.

seems pretty obvious after Gilberts childish letter that Bron probably knows him a lot better than all of us. A person who puts out a scathing letter like that 20 seconds after the announcement is probably somebody Bron didn't want to continue playing for anyway.

Somebody in that Cavs organization pissed him off somewhere, that's the only reason for something like this.

For the record, I don't agree with how he went about making the decision live on TV. Could have done it in a better way. But he did raise 5 million bucks for the Boys and Girls club.

And here I thought you were one of the few Mi*h*g*n fans that wasn't delusional...

What exactly could have pissed LeBron off? Gilbert telling him he wasn't going to hamstring the franchise and the fans by bowing to 'Bron's every wish anymore? Everything seems to point to Gilbert and the FO catering to James' every request up until last night's announcement. Gilbert has every right (maybe more than the fans) to be pissed off at LeBron, especially if the rumor of the Knicks being contacted is true, and we were not.

I'm sure "his boys" had a lot to do with it. It's a shame none of them can't get on with their lives and make something of themselves by themselves without leeching off of Lebron. Although he's well spoken and appears mature we have to remember that he's uneducated, came from a fatherless home and has been pampered for a longtime and has probably never been told no, ever. I don't think he's a bad person but it seems he still has a lot of growing up to do.

USA Today... GameOn

The unanswered question: Why was the announcement made in Greenwich? Wikipedia says the average person there is worth $430,000, the highest for any city in Connecticut. Was LeBron looking for a Boy's and Girl's Club specializing in kids with trust funds?

its a union shop. the players collectively bargained for their "rights." lebron had every right to leave. im a hockey fan, the july 1 bonanza happens every year and i enjoy it. granted when a player such as ryan smyth aka captain canada goes back he gets what he gets. granted he left cyring since the oilers with a deadline trade, sobbing in the airport.

reality is its not slavery as you and some others make it seem.

A) I never called it slavery. I said it was restrictive trade.

B) If you wanted to sell insurance and you discovered upon graduation that you'd been drafted by Nationwide they were the only company you could sign with and that you'd have to be in auto only and not home, or life, or whatever aspect you might want to go into and that you were not free to talk to USAA, Progressive, State Farm, Prudential, et al, would you not consider that a restriction of your rights? How is that fair for athletes?

C) LeBron signed and then resigned, his choice. But then, after fulfilling his contract, he chose not to re-sign a third time and for that exercise of his right he's catching a ration of shit on this board.

February 19, 2009: If Cleveland traded Wally Szczerbiak's $13 million expiring contract, they could have gotten a legitimate #2 for LeBron, probably would have won 1 or 2 rings, and there would be no Decision (sponsored by the University of Phoenix). Instead, they stand pat, confident of their record and chemistry, only to miss out on two championships and LeBron's entire career.

LeBron has been such a mature adult.....

demanding an hour long tv special for his "decision"

calling the papparazi to come take pictures of him

What do you think pissed him off more? His boys getting paid more than Assistant Coaches, or the cars they drove around that were nicer than players like Bobbie Gibson and Anthony Parker?

Maybe it was the personal mausseuse they hired for him because he likes his massages.

They bent over backwards for this guy...only person he can be upset at is Delonte West.

Several posters have been comparing the NBA to pro wrestling... Bill Simmons took that comparison to its logical end, pointing out the foreshadowing of Hulk Hogan joining nWo at Bash on the Beach in 1996. The dialogue is eerily similar to what we've been hearing for the last few weeks.

and your points follow along the book i linked which called it slavery.

well under that assumption the state of ohio would place upon me a 1 year non compete through the doi, so that would be at issue.

he had options, he chose to work (at nationwide in your scenario) rather than at mcdonalds, go to another country or chose another profession.

C) LeBron signed and then resigned, his choice. But then, after fulfilling his contract, he chose not to re-sign a third time and for that exercise of his right he's catching a ration of [censored] on this board.

not a thing wrong with what he did in my view, im a hockey fan, it happens every year. its how he did it. granted people would have hated him no matter what see thome, ramirez, boozer, etc. granted the difference is those folks at least pretended to go about it in the manner that every other professional athlete has done it...
