So for each of those 5 years, I'd say that an opinion that the NBA Champion had 2 of the top 10 players in the league was certainly not worth derision.

Maybe you're right on Miami in '06. But Gasol never has been a top 10 NBA player. As for Drexler, he wasn't even a member of the Rockets in '94.

Hell Kobe ran Shaq out of town, so he could be the man and win titles as the man...

Garnett went later in his career, same with Allen...Barkley, Malone, all tried their last 2-3 years to steal a championship...You didn't see them trying to go and join Jordan...

3 guys at the age of 25-27 is like saying I can't be the man...

I understand you need a team in basketball and Kobe is winning some very good players around him, but he isn't putting the traveling all-stars together...

Lebron James....the best basketball player that franchise will ever see....says he wants better players around him. He's not asking for the Cavs to get Pippen out of retirement, he has the same pool of players to work with as every other team.

How did the Lakers get Gasol? Did he fall out of a tree? Why did they get Jamison instead of Amare?

There is the fallacy, it was never about finding a #2--it was about finding a way to be #2. He didn't want better players around him, he wanted to be around better players.

Placske hit it dead on.

LeBron does not want to be "the man."

They won 126 games the past two seasons. They breezed through the first two rounds of the playoffs in '09 and were up 2-1 on the Celtics after blowing them out by 30 on their homecourt. Talent wasn't the issue no matter how much the he who shan't be named defenders or misinformed want it to be.
