Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

Example?

All the community effort and donating time and money to local causes in Akron/Cleveland made him seem like something of good person. Yes, the way LBJ did this tonight was wrong, but it would still get the same reaction as if the AP just released a statement from Lebron stating that he was leaving.
Let me ask you something Tron, since you've taken up the role of LeBron's public defender...if the Celtics had a homegrown kid who helped revive the franchise this decade, spent seven years saying he was going to bring a title to his hometown. Spent seven years talking about how he valued loyalty and his roots. Spent seven years talking about he was "about more than basketball". Now, he walks away after a drawn out, attention whoring FA process, and worst of all essentially executes your franchise on National TV. You wouldn't be upset? The fact that you're acting as if the Cav fans have no right to be upset is just plain silly.

Cavs Owner Blasts LeBron James - ABC News

CLEVELAND -- Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert says LeBron James "quit" during the playoffs and should be accountable for his actions.

Gilbert, who posted a letter to Cavs fans on the team's website shortly after James announced he plans to sign with Miami, tells The Associated Press late Thursday night that he feels "personally betrayed" by James and that it's "accountability time."

In a phone interview with the AP, Gilbert says "people have covered up for [James] for way too long. Tonight we saw who he really is."

Gilbert says James quit on the Cavs during their second-round series against the Boston Celtics, who rallied from a 2-1 deficit to eliminate Cleveland.

LBJ is no Jordan, but Jordan never becomes a legend if he doesn't learn to share the limelight.

I'm curious if this many people thought he was a choker when he was their team's star player. If so, that makes those conversations with Tron even more interesting.

I think the point is die-hard Cavs fans and locals were willing to let him develop the instinct, or at least go down trying as a hometown hero. He took the easy way out. Going to Miami was spitting in the face of the Cavs, especially after bending over backwards for him. LeBron forced a lot of moves for the immediate future, and now he's bolting...

I thought the line about people wanting to go to heaven before they died was pretty interesting...

I put this in the philosophical thread about 15 min ago...

I am pissed he left and I do believe he did turn his back. I highly doubt he just decided this mornig, he gave up in the playoffs, he said he loves the city and wanted to win. Okay we had the best record in the NBA the past two years. What else did he need. Think of it with tressel, we didn't give up on him after losing those 2 national championships. How is it different. Lebron is a bitch and I'm disgusted how he went about this. Using he boys and girls club as a "shield". Come on man. He's trying to cover his Publicity stunt by using a feel good story of university if Phoenix scholarships and money. Sorry bro I have no respect for you now lebron. You HAD class, but not anymore

looks like the heat are basically becoming as close to an NBA team can get to being the Yankees

Source: Miami Heat trade Michael Beasley to Minnesota Timberwolves for 2011 second-round pick - ESPN

just giving away players to clear more salary space........

The Miami Heat have found a trade taker for Michael Beasley that will create more salary-cap space for the dramatic transformation of their roster.

Sources close to the situation told ESPN.com that the Heat have agreed on a trade that will send Beasley to the Minnesota Timberwolves, who can absorb Beasley's contract into their salary-cap space.

Minnesota, according to sources, will complete the trade by sending Miami a second-round pick in 2011. The Wolves and Heat, sources said, have also agreed to swap an unspecified future first-round pick.

Quit putting words in my mouth. I never said Cavs fans have no right to be upset. I have posted that I thought it was wrong for the way he went about it all, but LBJ owes nothing to Cleveland or anybody at that.

No, you just make fun of people for being upset. You stir the pot, your right to do so, but don't act like a martyr.
