LB Steele Chambers (Official Thread)

Not joking. Lots of high schools, especially smaller schools, play their best athletes on both sides of the ball. I don't know if that was the case with Chambers - don't know if it was the case with Boren either.

My point is that the original comment made a comparison between Chambers and Eichenberg and previous Buckeyes. I suggested - didn't insist, suggested - that maybe Zach Boren was someone to consider before making the claim. Not that the claim didn't stand up, but that maybe Boren's case was stronger.

Gotcha, you can't always tell sarcasm through text.
But you are correct, he did go to a smaller school.
A non-Buckeye comparison I was thinking of, was Dylan Moses who went to Bama.

Boren is a good example of where a similar switch made an impact for the team, albeit for Boren it was mid-season. Clearly their play at LB is / was good for the team and for Chambers, probably good professionally.

Appears to have finally solidified his role as #1 LB who doesn't leave the field. Played extremely well again today outside of tackling the RB on the screen.
that was actually a legal play. He didnt grab him so no holding and no PI because it was behind the line of scrimmage and legal. Garbage call on him but there's plenty of those to go around.

Ok, I'm glad I'm not on crazy pills. I said that at our game watch and everyone swore I was wrong. I just didn't know if there was a rule change. We used to be taught to tackle the receiver on a screen if he was behind the line. In this case it looked like an accident, but nonetheless not a penalty. In any event, Chambers is quickly turning into a stud for us on defense.

Will be interesting to hear his quote.. but looked like he saw the screen and was trying to intercept it when he ran into the receiver,, wasn't looking at the back, he was looking for the ball

I said the same thing. That was not a penalty

Frost liked the call:

Finally! Nebraska's Scott Frost has hilarious reaction to holding call on Ohio State

Good move by Steele.

Several years ago, I thought that Brandon Saine should've made the move from RB to LB, but the staff was in love with his speed (10.38 in 100m). Problem was, all he had was straight-line speed - no timing, no vision, no shake, no cuts. Essentially, he ran like a linebacker. In 49 games at Ohio State, Saine had 2,024 yards from scrimmage and 17 total TDs (that's 226 less yards and 6 less TDs than J.K. Dobbins had in his senior season alone). Not surprisingly, Saine was an UDFA in 2011 and saw very limited action with the Green Bay Packers for a couple of seasons before retiring from football.

And don't get me started on Steve Bellisari, who should've been an All American safety....
