LB Scott McVey (official thread)

**McVey supported ? We?ve had updates on redshirt freshman linebacker Scott McVey recently, detailing his quest to return to the field. We had heard there were some mixed feelings in the McVey camp regarding his choice to give it another shot.

We heard wrong.

We have since heard right.

Thanks to a source very close to McVey, we have this update ? directly from said source:

?Scott McVey did indeed have surgery this fall for a re-injury to his shoulder, and will rehab through the spring and summer. He anticipates, as his doctor indicated, to be ready for full-contact drills in August. What's more, Scott has the full support of his family.?

And there you have it. We are all pulling for the Ignatius grad ?

McVey's recovery: Another Northeast Ohio defender who is trying to get healthy is linebacker Scott McVey of St. Ignatius. Entering his second season in Columbus, McVey took a redshirt year last season after having shoulder surgery in September. He has been at practice, but wearing the blue mesh jersey that indicates he is not yet ready for full hitting.

Ohio State is being cautious with his recovery, and the plan is for McVey to be 100 percent for preseason practice in August.

Medical Hardship

Per the Ozone
By Brandon Castel
COLUMBUS, Ohio ? Urban Meyer will have two extra scholarships to work with for next season, but not the way he would like them.

Ohio State interim coach Luke Fickell announced this week that defensive end Melvin Fellows and linebacker Scott McVey would both be put on medical hardship, effectively ending their playing careers at Ohio State.
