LB Scott McVey (official thread)

In the Ohio State Buckeyes Preview Show on BTN, last night (about midway through the 1 hr special) , McVey #38 looked awesome in the LB v. RB goal line drill.

I was just going to post the same thing. He made two solid form tackles in 1-on-1 situations, and was the guy that stood out to me in those couple of minutes of film.

Wow, I didn't know that was him...I remember thinking "Man is #38 getting after it, who the heck is that"...look for big things out of Scotty.

I recall thinking the same thing. Hope that he's gonna be ok. It's been pretty quiet on his rehab so I'm guessing that no news is good news. Maybe more hope than guess on my part.

FWIW the 2010 tOSU vs. TSUN game statistician listed #38 Scott McVey in the official participation report. These stats have been known to be inaccurate . . . .

However if it is accurate and he did participate, I find it curious.

From Duane Long's article Sept. 26, re. McVey,

. . . However, very well-informed sources at the game told our people that while there is some legitimate concern, it is premature to assume McVey?s shoulder injury is career-threatening. That said, it may require surgery in the weeks ahead. At present, it is apparent McVey will at least redshirt this season, then rehab so he can get try and get back on the field next year.

McVey was injured early enough to potentially qualify for a Freshman red shirt after this year (if he hadn't played) or Med red shirt after his 4th year (injured before or during the 4th game).

They wouldn't let McVey dress (he's in the red stocking cap but in pads) if he had a terrible injury. This isn't the next Curt Lukens. NCAA is usually pretty lenient about giving a redshirt for injuries if it wasn't taken already.
