LB Ryan Shazier (All B1G, All-American, 2017 Pro Bowl)

Being Vernon Shazier's son... would not surprise me in the least
That was an excellent post… Wait… What:getout:

I think it might benefit Ryan to come back for one more season because I am selfish but I also think that if he could put on some additional weight without losing any of his speed that would benefit him greatly in his draft position.. I know that he can put on weight in the NFL but right now he is almost at the weight of a strong safety in the NFL.

Please please please let it be true.
It's interesting.... I think Shazier is NFL ready and pretty much guaranteed Day1 pick (if not 1st round?), but he seems more likely to come back than Braxton right now -- who is a 3rd rounder at best =/
Thing is, I think we'd miss Shazier more... they're both awesome, but it's "next man up" at QB. I'm not sure I want to find out what's behind Shazier at this point.

Day 1 is only the first round. Shazier is a backend of 2nd to 3rd round pick at this point but i'm not sure coming back will improve that.

It benefits every player to come back. The only question is when leaving early outweighs the benefit received. IMO it does in this case.

I think any concerns of his size went away with the blocked punt against Michigan State. Threw the blocker away and still got the block off.

There's a lot of butthurt over there about various LBs. Funny seeing all the Wiscy fans cry about Borland, not realizing the Big Awards have always been "participation awards" to that extent. Can't give Ohio State POTY in every category... can't put more than 1 guy on OL' first team.

Still interesting that the ACC has the most players. Seems like it's easy to look like a world beater in that Conference.

Would love for Ryan to stay for selfish reasons, but he's a 1st round pick. The latest he'd go is 2nd and that's a maybe based on his athleticism and nose for the ball. and he can blitz very well. He has a very good skill set for the NFL and will be the first Buckeye taken by far in this years draft if he declares. I disagree with the fact that coming back always makes a player better, I believe a player needs to strike while the iron is hot, and it's scalding for ryan now.
But like I initially said, I'd love to have Ryan back on our defense.
