LORAIN, Ohio -- Before his senior season,
Lorain standout Rashod Berry told coach Dave McFarland he wanted to go to a school like Ohio State. The school had shown interest but needed to see more from Berry.
"When I got the job, Rashod wanted to go to Ohio State, Michigan State or Florida State," McFarland said. "They all said he had to perform better on film. As the season went on he kept getting better. Each school got a little more interested."
Both Ohio State and Michigan State offered Berry on Tuesday, and Berry committed to the Buckeyes.
While the senior's football development played a big role in his recruitment,
it was his character that pushed him over the edge.
"He's a great athlete and more importantly, he's a great kid," McFarland said. "Ohio State called a lot of people about more than just football. They wanted to know what kind of man he was. His character is really what put him over the top."
