Alabama, one of the top three finalists for five-star Hinesville (Ga.) Liberty County linebacker Raekwon McMillan, has been trying to make up ground on the top team on his list, Ohio State.
Now it appears that the third team in his top three, Clemson, may be Ohio State's biggest competitor for his signature.
McMillan visited Clemson last weekend and watched the Tigers' 38-35 win over Georgia,
telling 247Sports after the trip that the Tigers had made "a big jump for me."
"Clemson was on the come up when they first started recruiting me and now they are right there at the top," he said. "They have been telling me for a long time that I do not need to go to an SEC school to play for a good defense and beat good teams. They really showed what they have been teaching me throughout my recruitment there - that I can achieve all my dreams and get to the NFL at Clemson."
McMillan (6-2, 242), rated the No. 1 inside linebacker in the nation by both 247Sports and Rivals.com, said the only game he'd seen that rivaled the atmosphere of Saturday night at Clemson was last year's Ohio State-Michigan game. He tempered his enthusiasm, however, by saying that his decision will still come down to where he feels most comfortable, adding that while Ohio State, Clemson and Alabama are still his top three, he has not eliminated Georgia.
