LB John Kerr (official thread)

does anyone know what happened to...

john kerr?

I believe he transferred and was eligible to play last year, as a freshman he led Indiana with tackles with 116, he's a middle backer and i expected to see him on the field last year along with many others, i recently read somewhere that he was in tressel's doghouse, is he still on the team? what did he do wrong to get in trouble? can we expect to see him in the future?

There are several threads on Kerr, the most recent of which is the Kerr played yet? from late October. The search function on this site works quite well...you may want to try it out before starting a thread. I believe you'll get your answer in the thread I linked.

John Kerr

Against all odds, the former St. Ignatius and Indiana linebacker recently began his official competition for playing time at linebacker as a member of the Ohio State Buckeyes. To say that it's been a long and arduous journey just for John Kerr to finally be where he is today might be somewhat of a gross understatement. But Kerr has been around the block before and he knows the challenge to earn playing time on OSU's defense this season is worthy of nothing less than his maximum effort.

I was looking for a thread on Kerr to resurrect. It seems we have written him off and that probably isn't fair.

HS - Defensive Player of the Year in Ohio the same year Hawk, Carpenter and D'Andrea came out. However, considered a bit undersized and perhaps a half step slow and didn't get the offers.

2002 - Leading Frosh tackler in the Big Ten (I know, there are all sorts of disclaimers as to what it means to do that at IU, but we were sure high on Schlegel for starring at AF).

2003 - Sat out a transfer year.

2004 - Practiced but did not play. All indications are that his lack of PT was due to something other than his ability.

His coments when he didn't get the OSU offer and the way he left IU indicate a bit of an attitude, but on the other hand we have a kid who is in his third year at OSU without a schollie busting his butt. We always talk about kids who want to be Buckeyes - well, here is one.

I don't recall hearing much in terms of practice reports from the past two years - which is a concern - but in LB depth disucssions his name ought to at least get a mention.

Didn't he test positive for something just before the season started last year and get suspended from the team?
