LB Freddie Lenix (Cincinnati signee; transfer to Notre Dame College)

Not trying to be disrespectful to Freddie, but just how hard is it to qualify for Ohio State? I'm not the sharpest tool in the bag, but I'd bet my house that I'd have no problem qualifying academically...
It's a lot tougher than it used to be... the avg. is a 3+ GPA and ~25.5 ACT. Of course, football players just need to make it to the bottom of the incoming class... so maybe a 20+ ACT and good core courses... ?

Holy Crap is that... MoC in your avatar?

And... Whether he will be a safety or a lineback is a topic that has been ripped to shreds and over with for a long time.

And about speedy linebackers... AJ Hawk has the same "speediness" as safeties and wide receivers, and I think he might be an okay linebacker.

I do know that OSU has gotten much much more selective in recent years, and I think the selectivity has extends to athletes as well (due to APR concerns I guess, given our borderline situation).

on a side note, you might be able to qualify academically but can you run a sub 4.5 40 and hit like a mack truck

The academic standards at tOSU have greatly increased in recent years.
That said, I think its bullshit that someone like Freddie can be cleared to play football at UC but not here.
I wish him the best, but this sucks.
If you meet NCAA standards, that should be all that matters.
I thought someone posted the JT was going to be allowed more borderline qualifiers? How can Freddie not fit into that category?

I disagree. Why should OSU live by the bare minimum standard set forth by the NCAA? If they're raising their standards for non-students, which they have done dramatically in the past 10 years, then I see no problem with raising their standard for athletes too. To be brutally honest, if you can't meet fairly low qualification standards, you probably won't be able to remain eligible anyways. Classes are a lot easier at Tri-High than at Ohio State.

Dunno, maybe it is me but...

I think that if Freddie was getting the grades at CC he would be in at OSU no question. Sounds like he isn't doing all that well grade wise and went elsewhere.

If that is the case I give him an A for effort, but it aint OSU's fault he was not able to do the work.

Good luck at UC. Good to see that Nancy Z has not gotten her claws into the FB program like she did with BB.
