LB Etienne Sabino (official thread)

sorry didn't make myself clear - that's what i was implying with being able to play a couple years - that having a guy who won't just be a "one and done" so to speak would be nice.. Maybe its just me being greedy, but I was so excited about Sabino coming out of HS and it would be disappointing to only have him to play for less than a year and a half.. but thats just me

Just wanted to resurrect this thread and say a big "Thank you" to Etienne! Here's a guy who has been on the bench for a while (which could be a source of frustration for most) but goes out and recruits one of the key pieces in our recruiting class. From the reports I have read, Etienne made quite an impact on Ryan and his dad. Here's a true Buckeye. I can't wait to see him start next year!

IIRC, the coaches had mentioned having Sabino move to Mike LBer to fill the void left by Rolle. That would give us Sabino/Storm inside, Sweat/Bell outside. We also have some wildcard guys like Newsome, McVey, and Durham too. I'm very comfortable with the guys we have on the current roster at LBer. I feel Sabino will be an integral piece to both our traditional 4-3 and our nickel package. He's so athletic, yet he's huge.

I think the competition is between Bino, Sweat, Bell, and Klein for the LB spots. TY plays Star imo...

:osu:

I believe he was referencing how much we played a 4-2-5 this year and how much we are likely to play it next year with Moeller in there. Moeller will certainly remain at the Star position but he played a lot more than the 3rd LB when he was healthy this season and I think that remains constant into next season... he was our best defender this year before the injury.

Yep. Moeller is essentially is our 3rd LB out there, we are in the 4-2-5 quite often, which leaves 2 spots at LB.
