LB Etienne Sabino (official thread)

NFBuck is 100% correct. The plan is to red shirt Sabino and from what I was told he is completely in favor of doing so. I just wish Sweat would have red shirted his freshman year so we'd have them both for two more years after this one.

Worth noting that the plan is to redshirt him, but this is not an injury situation. If injuries happen and he's needed, he'll probably play. Apparently, right now, the plan is to save him so they have him for two years as a starter, but it's a fluid situation...this is what I'm gathering from those "in the know"...

If i recall correctly, Sabino came in as a 17 year old freshman. I realize that he has always had the physical tools, but another year of maturation will definitely be good from both physical and mental standpoint. Just my imo though...

Good for him; kid has been nothing but an asset to the program in his time here. Has never complained and has always taken responsibility. Once he gets into the swing of things with playing (which, IMO, is all he needs to start clicking) he is going to show why he was rated so high out of high school. He has the physical gifts that you can't teach.

So does that set the stage for a Bino-Sweat-Bell/Klein rotation at linebacker in 2011? We are ridiculously spoiled at this position.

From what I've been reading, it was actuallly 'Binos' request to RS. He's being mentored by Brian Rolle...doesn't get much better than that. I feel pretty confident in guessing that he'll be a captain before he leaves Columbus...the kid just "gets it".
