Great Buckeye; fine man; poor coaching candidate IMO.
He said that he would do whatever he could to help Coach Fickell be successful, but then, basically, said that coaching wasn't for him. He said that he has a brand new life now, with his kids, and he fears that he'll become the same, obsessed by the job, kind of guy that he was when he was a player, and he didn't want to go back to being that guy.3074326;1931281; said:I definitely agree, and I think he probably would too. Was just curious what his thoughts were on him being a coach in some capacity.

Spielman: More NCAA sanctions probable

TOLEDO, Ohio (WUPW) - Chris Spielman doesn't take any pleasure in being right about Jim Tressel. He also doesn't take any pleasure about what he sees in Ohio State's future.
Ohio State's all-time leading solo tackler visited Toledo for a breast cancer benefit and answered questions about the Buckeyes' troubles with the NCAA.
"I would think that the sanctions would be added onto by the NCAA," he said. "I don't know what - maybe a couple of scholarship reductions. We'll see. I think Gene Smith did what he thought was right and fair, but the NCAA's probably going to take a hard look at it and I think they're making a conscious effort to throw tougher penalties down because of all the problems that've been prevalent in college football."
Spielman understands that more sanctions could make recruiting more difficult, but believes new hire Mike Vrabel could be a huge help.
"I think Mike's a new guy that's just out of the NFL, so players can relate to him especially if there's recruiting restrictions, that Mike'll be able to go in and relate to the kids and he's a very knowledgeable guy and passionate about football and passionate about Ohio State. I thought it was a great hire by Luke (Fickell)."
Spielman also mentioned that he believed in Fickell as the man to pull the Buckeyes through the offseason adversity when it comes to play football in September.

Something like "You're privileged to be representing THE Ohio State University. Obey all of the rules - and if you do something to tarnish the reputation of Ohio State, I'll round up a few former players and we'll beat the shit out of you and toss your sorry ass in the Olentangy Go Bucks!".
