LB Bobby Carpenter (All B1G, National Champion)

How about we put together a real tribute to Bobby Carpenter?

There are many other great Buckeyes in this class, and they are all worthy of being honored in one way or another. This isn't about what Bobby Carpenter has earned. He earned our support a long time ago. This is about us showing Bobby Carpenter that we know we can't fathom how it feels and we know we can't possibly understand, but we hurt for him nonetheless; not physically, but as Buckeyes.

Whether he plays in the game or not, every BPer who goes to the Bowl Game should wear a #42 jersey. Every person that goes to the game with a BPer should wear a #42 jersey. For that matter let's move this as far beyond Buckeye Planet as we can, and fill the stadium with #42 jerseys.

Mom, if you're reading this, I want a #42 Jersey for Christmas.

I got a #42 jersey from Barnes and Nobles on High Street formerly Longs bookstore. The bad part was it takes about 6 weeks to get one specially ordered :( . I paid way more than a regular old Nike jersey for it and its the quality of the old mesh high school basketball practice jerseys but I wear it proudly every Saturday! Bobby is also my favorite all time Buckeye. It would be great if he could lace them up for OSU one more time as long as he wouldn't be taking a bigger risk than normal by playing.

I've made a habit of buying one new jersey every year (though I bought 2 new jerseys in 2002). I've already bought a #4 jersey this year. I'm thinking that I need a #42 jersey, also. I wonder when I'll be in Columbus, again?

There is a store in Lancaster that stocks #42 jerseys actually...they aren't the Nike ones (so they don't cost a million dollars), but they are pretty good quality and officially licensed and all that...its one of the sporting good stores at the River Valley Mall, I can't remember the name though

My parents both have had one since last season :)

taking him away was huge. He did everything. He rushed, tackled, covered the tight end, .

Perhaps IVLloyd said it best: "If we had had Masequoi, he makes that catch and gets the first down and we run the clock out on them." And if we had had Carp and Masequoi makes that catch you can bet the house he doesn't get the first down. There may have been better defenses in OSU history, (though I can't think of one) but there has never been a defense that has played better in the face of adversity... in wins and losses, through injuries, through controversy. Led by Carpenter, Hawk and Schlegel they went after it every down with such intensity and such heart. I will miss watching them play.

How many Linebackers could play Defensive End as well as Carpenter did/does?
That's not a rhetorical question. I really want to know. Is that something that any linebacker can do, so who cares that Carpenter did that? Or does it take certain skills that people don't typically develop as a linebacker?

You all are right, Bobby is a plain Warrior. Heres what Tressel had to say on Bobbys Condition:

Linebacker Bobby Carpenter has a chance to play in Ohio State’s bowl game despite suffering a broken right ankle Saturday, coach Jim Tressel said Monday.

Speaking on WBNS-AM, Tressel said Carpenter must wear a protective boot for three weeks, and that the break was in a relatively good spot.
"We’re going to be very conservative," Tressel said. "We’re not going to do anything to jeopardize Bobby or his future."

Carpenter is projected as a high NFL draft pick in April, most likely in the first two rounds. The NFL combine, in which players are timed and tested, starts Feb. 22.

The most likely bowls for the Buckeyes are the Capital One and Fiesta on Jan. 2, or the Orange on Jan. 3.
"I would say we that we won’t know (Carpenter’s availability) until we’re probably out at the bowl site," Tressel said. "The later we play, the better. So I’m hoping we play like around the third, that would give us the best chance."

I will be shocked if Carp isn't ready by Bowl Day

I'm starting to feel very bad for our bowl opponent (whoever it is).. cuz Carp is gonna take out missing THE GAME on them... it won't be pretty...
