LB Bobby Carpenter (All B1G, National Champion)

with the selection of a good passing team like und it will be interesting to see if bobby is able to go in here in a month. he will of had about 6 weeks since the michigan game. his role as a pass rusher in obvious passing downs was huge for us and his absence was noticeable. i have still yet to hear where on the fibula the break was (the higher typically the better)

I think it has got to be a low break based upon how Carpenter fell on his ankle. I sure hope he can play. Carpenter deserves to play.

Carp is a player...he's always done a hell of a job getting the team and the fans fired up and he's been a leader since HS, he's going to have a helluva good career in the NFL just like his dad...then he'll hopefully follow his dad and coach at Lancaster (he has said this is a long term goal in an interview...) and keep our program going strong

Also, I don't know if it is true or not, but my dad claims Carp was in on the 1st tackle (on the kickoff) to open up our National Championship season :)...great way to start off a Buckeye career

:osu:

Your dad would be correct. The first tackle of 2002 vs TT was made by Carp on the kick coverage.

Well there is a 6-8 week recovery time with this injury. From the day of the scUM game to the Notre Lame game it will be 45 days. The break was a clean break so no surgery, so we will see.

This kid is a warrior so I wouldnt be suprised in any way if he was out there playing, if not Animal Jr. will be well prepared as Carp is helping in anyway he can.

Carpenter, who was injured in the Michigan game, is recovering from a broken ankle, but says there is some hope that he will play in the Fiesta Bowl.

"There's a chance that I can play, and believe me, I'm going to work that chance all I can. I've never really been one to talk about the odds. It's just a feel thing with me. Hopefully my ankle will heal up and feel right. I've always thought of myself as a fast healer. We'll have to see if that's true.

"I'd play out there on one leg if they'd let me. I'm doing everything I can right now to get better. Down there we'll make the decision as to whether I can play or not. I won't be able to run at all until maybe the 28th, 29th, 30th. It will be kind of like a test for me to show the doctors that I can play. Until that happens I'm going to be helping A. J. and Anthony get ready for this game, help the break down film and get James ready to play in the event that I can't."

If he can't run until less than a week before the game, there's no way he'll be in "game shape". I know how bad he wants to play, but it's best for him, and the team, if he sits this one out and focus entirely on helping Little Animal to get ready...
