If he can't run until less than a week before the game, there's no way he'll be in "game shape". I know how bad he wants to play, but it's best for him, and the team, if he sits this one out and focus entirely on helping Little Animal to get ready...

Bobby Carpenter not "in game shape" is better than most linebackers in college football right now.MililaniBuckeye said:If he can't run until less than a week before the game, there's no way he'll be in "game shape". Look, no one wants to see Bobby at 100% and out there blasting Crying Irish than I do. But, you have to put aside to bravado and understand the realities here. The defense did great with JL in there during The Game. I like exhawg's approach...give Bobby some nickel time if he can hack it, and let JL play SLB full time.
Carpenter, who was injured in the Michigan game, is recovering from a broken ankle, but says there is some hope that he will play in the Fiesta Bowl.
"There's a chance that I can play, and believe me, I'm going to work that chance all I can.
I've never really been one to talk about the odds. It's just a feel thing with me. Hopefully my ankle will heal up and feel right. I've always thought of myself as a fast healer. We'll have to see if that's true.
"I'd play out there on one leg if they'd let me. I'm doing everything I can right now to get better. Down there we'll make the decision as to whether I can play or not. I won't be able to run at all until maybe the 28th, 29th, 30th. It will be kind of like a test for me to show the doctors that I can play.
Until that happens I'm going to be helping A. J. and Anthony get ready for this game, help the break down film and get James ready to play in the event that I can't."
IMO he will play... and be virtually 100%... he'll be walking on it this week if I am correct... somewhat sure I understand that bone...
Don't they have sonar or ultraviolet stuff that helps breaks nowadays...
regardless, I'd bet the rest of my vCash he's there bowl day..
His speedy recovery for his career is the most important thing. But if there is no risk of aggravating the injury, and the only issue would be his conditioning, it would be great to get him on the field for 10-15 sure passing situations, just to rush the QB.
