LB Baron Browning (Arizona Cardinals)

Hmmm. Weird. That's not how it appears to me but........
From this past Friday:

A month ago, it was Ohio State and Texas, with UCLA on the periphery, fighting for his signature. Then, the country’s second-ranked outside linebacker visited Alabama.

Then everything changed. Initially, reports from Tuscaloosa were that the Tide didn’t feel all that confident in their positioning, even after the official visit. Now, though, things are way, way different. In fact, a source close to Alabama’s recruiting efforts informed me on Thursday that Browning actually committed to Nick Saban’s staff on Wednesday night.

But he’s still visiting Ohio State this weekend. So there’s a chance for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State needs a linebacker like Browning. Alabama, which already has the country’s top-ranked outside linebacker (Dylan Moses) committed, has done an incredible job of bridging the gap and maybe it has closed it completely. I’ve spoken to sources close to the Buckeyes and they will admit that things have been trending away from them, but this weekend gives them a chance to prove once and for all to Browning and his family why they’ve been at the top of the list for months.

A final decision for Browning is coming on Tuesday. Right now, all signs point to Alabama.

Yeah, I don't know that I buy it.

I think he had Buckeyes in mind when he set his commitment date originally and he pushed it back not because he was giving tOSU a final consideration before going to Bama but the exact opposite. It's just a hunch but I see it that he promised Tosh Lupoi from Bama an in home visit as a last shot so he postponed his announcement for that reason. This is an absolute guess but seems likely to me. Who knows, it's the wild world of recruiting.
