The Broncos placed Baron Browning on injured reserve with a foot injury before their Week 3 game, meaning he will be out for at least three more weeks before he is eligible to return.
The Denver Broncos activated Baron Browning from injured reserve. He played 31 defensive snaps but did not record any statistics in his first game back from a foot injury.
The Broncos selected both Cooper and Browning in the 2021 NFL draft. Browning was a third-round pick while Cooper was a seventh-round selection, but Cooper has been the more productive player in Denver. Three-and-a-half seasons into their NFL careers, Cooper has recorded 193 tackles with 18.5 sacks in 56 games while Browning has recorded 114 tackles with 9.5 sacks in 43 games.
With both set to become free agents next offseason, the Broncos decided to make sure Cooper would stick around as a long-term building block of their defense while moving on from Browning.
The Denver Broncos signed Jonathon Cooper to a four-year, $60 million contract that includes $33M guaranteed while they sent Baron Browning to Arizona for a sixth-round pick.
