Hope this happens. The combo of Sweat, Shazier, and Sabino would be great. Add Grant and Klein with more experience and with Urban's discipline, I see this line-backing crew as a formidable force.

:)

Not to get off Sweat, but what has Sabino done this season that would lead you to believe that trio would be great? Curtis Grant living up to his hype, with Shazier and Sweat could lead to a formidable force.

I agree with this more, sabino is living off more hype than actual making plays. He was actually a liability at times this season. I'd rather see Klein at MLB with shazier and sweat on the outside. With grant backing up Klein, and sabino and Cromwell backing up the outside. But I think whiting will push hard for time. It could be a wrap for mcveys career it seems haven't heard anything but injuries about him

Who's Cromwell?

As for Klein starting, he was no better than Sabino this year. IMO, he had more playing time this year and I think under Meyer he could take a leap forward.

Though our linebacking crew underachieved this season (IMO), Sweat was the most reliably productive member. Whatever else you believe about the other returnees, it's hard to see Andrew Sweat returning as anything but positive.

Ohio State football: Switch to middle no problem for Sweat
By Bill Rabinowitz
The Columbus Dispatch Saturday December 24, 2011

For someone who has played outside linebacker during his career at Ohio State, it?s not surprising that a shift to the middle would feel strange to senior captain Andrew Sweat.

What is strange is that the move feels so natural.

When Ohio State plays Florida in the Gator Bowl on Jan. 2, Sweat will play middle linebacker. Freshman Ryan Shazier will play Sweat?s previous spot at weak-side linebacker.

?Honestly, it?s weird,? Sweat said this week. ?I probably feel more comfortable at (middle linebacker). At (middle linebacker), it?s more you come down and fit the fullback and are inside, tackle to tackle. I haven?t taken that many reps, but I feel pretty comfortable there.?

If all had gone according to plan, Sweat wouldn?t be making his debut at middle linebacker in Jacksonville, Fla. The Buckeyes wanted to make the move late in the season, but the plan was foiled when Sweat sustained a concussion in practice before the Purdue game.

He was in for only a few plays against Purdue before it was clear he couldn?t continue. Sweat wobbled to the locker room with help after trying to warm up at halftime.

The concussion symptoms subsided as practice for Michigan began, and he was cleared to practice. But in the Wednesday practice, he first dislocated a finger and then, an hour later, dislocated an elbow.

?It was severe pain,? Sweat said of the elbow injury. ?It probably took them 15 minutes to put it back in.?

Ohio State Pro Day notebook: NFL is Sweat?s first choice
But linebacker has career options other than football
By Bill Rabinowit
The Columbus Dispatch Saturday March 10, 2012

Andrew Sweat is too smart and well-rounded to put all his eggs in the football basket.

He is a three-time all-academic Big Ten honoree with a 3.4 grade-point average as an accounting and finance double major. He has applied to law schools. A medical sales job is another option.

But Sweat, a former Ohio State linebacker, would prefer to spend the foreseeable future in the NFL.

?I think there?s always plan A, B and C,? Sweat said. ?I?m that kind of guy. But plan A is definitely football.?

Yesterday, he and 12 other former Buckeyes players worked out in front of NFL scouts representing every team except the New York Jets and Chicago Bears.

For Sweat, the stakes were particularly high because he wasn?t invited to the NFL combine last month. He believes health concerns kept him from going to Indianapolis after he missed time last season because of a concussion and then a dislocated elbow he suffered before the Michigan game. Although Sweat played in the Gator Bowl, he was not close to full strength.

Now he believes he is, though he chose not to do the 225-pound bench press yesterday as a precaution. In the past, he said, he has reached almost 30 reps, impressive for a linebacker.

The other concern about Sweat is his speed, but he might have allayed that yesterday. His father, Gary, said he was told that Sweat ran the 40-yard dash in 4.58 seconds.

Other sources had him slightly slower. No official times were kept.

?I think I can play right up there with anyone,? Sweat said. ?People can watch the (game) film.?& amp; amp; amp; amp; amp; amp; amp; amp; amp; amp; amp; amp; lt; /p>

Sweat might be a long shot to be taken in next month?s draft, but all he wants is a chance.

?If I get drafted or picked up (as a free agent), awesome,? he said.

Linebacker Andrew Sweat had unofficial times ranging from 4.58 to 4.68 in his 40-yard dash.
