LaTwan Anderson (official thread)

Back to LaTwan...

I'm sure most by now have heard the news out of San Antonio is that LaTwan is likely to pick WVU if he decides to announce this weekend (although this article from the UNC Scout site says he still plans to visit UNC on 1/22 if "they let" him and possibly Miami on 1/15).

Let me just say this...if LaTwan pulls the trigger for WVU this weekend over reported offers from OSU, Miami (FL), Georgia, Tennessee, etc. and you can convince me the decision had nothing to do with grades, I'll eat my keyboard.

Agreed. Tomorrow's announcement will tell us where his grades are at.

Reading between the lines, it seems that Bill Stewart at WVU is really pushing LaTwan to commit to "hold" his spot. If that is true the person that is burning brigdes is Stewart. TG Sr seems to have a very long memory.

Latwan Anderson, ATH/S/CB (Cleveland, Ohio) AC100 No. 73
Finalists: Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina, Ohio State, West Virginia
Ohio State and West Virginia are the rumored choices here. He still has visits set with others but those two appear to be the teams to beat. Certainly, he is a much bigger deal for the Mountaineers and they could offer more in terms of position flexibility and playing time. For the Bucks, he is just another top-100 recruit from Glenville Academy. Prediction: West Virginia

If you are WVU, you hold a roster spot for someone of LaTwan's talent level.

I agree, but in all the posts I have read on Latwan it seemed that Stewart was pushing for a commitment at the AA game. I am most likely wrong.

No, you are correct. They are pushing for the commitment, but not because of the scholarship spot. WVU feels they are in a good spot right now and want to go for the jugular, so to speak. The longer this goes on and the longer Latwan has to cool off, return to Glenville and be surrounded by pro-OSU players, the worse off it is for WVU. SA is a "neutral" environment for them, he's agitated right now and Lat has a history of being a very emotional kid and they want to capitalize on that. They see an opening and they're pulling out the full court press for a verbal. WVU wants this over ASAP, while OSU/Ginn wants it to drag on.

Even if that were true about a full court press by WVU - unless they believe they can get Latwan to stick with it, it doesn't do much. He's going back to Glenville Monday either way. I don't believe any kid picks WVU over OSU unless there is another reason. Grades or he's from WV

Paging Mr Roby.

I don't mean this in a bad way... but I see a lot of people out there on all boards saying "paging Roby". It comes across like he's in a waiting room and a second choice that's drooling for this chance. Roby has a standing offer no matter what Latwan does, this shouldn't have one single affect on his decision.

Edit: Also, let's not forget Roby had an offer much before Latwan.

Ok, I was wrong about the offer, should have checked through the thread. But, IMO, if Roby didn't commit to Vandy he may have gotten it before Latwan. OSU was actively recruiting him over the summer, while were somewhat luke warm about Latwan.

Regardless, he's not a second choice as I was saying.
