LaTwan Anderson (official thread)

I agree teke and I'll go back to an earlier post that I believe Tress and Coach Ginn have an action plan for Anderson... That could be me wearing some heavy blinders and more HOPE than anything, but I have to believe that with the relationship Tress has with Coach Ginn, that if Coach Ginn gives our staff the green light than an offer will be extended...???

I think we have to take some of Anderson comments with a grain of salt and just understand that the kid has been a STUD at every camp he's been to, but hasn't gotten what he's wanted out of Columbus - Thats got to be hard on the kid, but he has to show some patience and understand where Ohio State is coming...Easy to say, but not easy to do for a young kid in High School....

Call me out on a man crush for Anderson... but the kids got the talent and skill to play at Ohio State. He continues to be a kid that I'm excited about and is really the most exciting kid I've seen play ball in a LONG time.

As a fan base though, ripping the kid for being passionate about something isn't what I think we need to do... I think we need to continue to be excited for the kid - Hope he wears Scarlet and Gray next year, but if not then know that another Ohio kid is going to represent the state pretty freaking well at another school and we had a shot at bringing him to C-Bus...

There doesn't seem to be any question that he has the talent to play at Ohio State, so there must be something else, right?

I'll answer for Brutus...the answer is yes. Minor stuff but little things in the past that aren't helping Anderson's chances of an offer. But if he continues to be a good citizen at Glenville and works hard in the classroom and on the practice field, there is no doubt in my mind that he will be in the mix for an offer down the road.

Where do you see this on BP? Am I missing something?

I was thinking the same thing. I actually think we've been holding our tongues, considering some of the not-so-kind words.

With that being said, I hope this kid gets whatever is wrong behind him, and gets the offer he's been looking for.

Grad... It's been pretty mild on BP for sure; however, there have been a few people (not to drop names, if someone wants to go back and look it up themselves they can, but I'm not going to call them out on it...) that lightly wrote Anderson off to WVU or seem to be taking his words to heart and I believe those words are more of a rant on his part than an actual attack at OSU.

Again, it's nothing that I think are horrible comments made by anyone, I just feel that we should watch what we say at the moment...again, maybe I have my blinders on... but I feel we have a pretty good chance still and there isn't any reason for us not to continue to be excited about the kid...

Maybe it was premature on my part and I apologize if it was... I just really would hate for us to bash the kid because of the words he dropped during, whats got to be, a tough time for the kid

There won't be any bashing on BP. Folks know that. I definitely understand your position here but there are ways to handle a situation like this...and LaTwan is not doing a very good job so far. He can be frustrated but that frustration should lead him to take a good look at what he has done in the past and what he is doing now to improve that image. If tOSU is important to him, he will work with Ginn Sr. to make the necessary changes...if not, well, best of luck to him at the school he chooses.

I posted earlier that I would like to see an offer...I still would if things get straightened out on his end. However, my gut is telling me an offer won't come his way...no inside info, just a feeling.

Hopefully, he gets it together and proves me wrong.

Pierre Woods, if I'm not mistaken.

Yep, nobody in the Tressel era has gone to scUM.

I really think we need to trust Tressel with Anderson. It's clear Anderson's an immense talent and if grades are in order and Tressel feels he deserves an offer then that's good enough for me. Seems like Tress always makes the right decision in these types of situations.

The Duane Long Report

I saw Anderson doing just too much celebrating. At this event I noticed that so many of the players were clowning and talking trash. I did not see anybody breaking the spirit of the celebration rule which is about drawing attention to oneself, except Latwan. He is a tremendous player. Fans are up in arms about no offer to this gifted athlete. I have to point out it is not just Ohio State. The fact that 3 of the Big 4 in the midwest, Ohio State, Penn State and Notre Dame not offering has everything to do with the bad vibe this kid is putting out. He is doing nothing to change that.

Watched LA's highlight tape the other day and was pretty impressed. Whatever concerns the coaches have, I hope that he can overcome them. He would be a tremendous addition to the class, talent wise.

Could you imagine LA and Hagen manning the Safety spots? Two Safeties who both run a 4.2 fourty. WOW!!

Gosh that's a shame because talent-wise, I think he is cut out of the same mold as Eric Berry.

That's a little overboard IMO. Latwan is very, very talented......but players like Eric Berry are few and far between. Berry has the look and has played at a level similar to an Ed Reed, Bob Sanders, Troy Polamalu have in the NFL.....if LA could ever sniff that level, that would be special.

The bottomline is the staff has had to deal with some hairy situations already in this class with Turner, Berry, Hyde and to take a chance on LA would be pushing the issue too much in their opinion, at least that's what I take from it. The difference between Hagan and LA.....not much, and I feel much better about Hagan's make up. Nothing against LA, because Troy certainly proved you can make a big turn around, but this might be a risk the staff has to pass up on. I wish him all the best though.

That sir is laughable....Anderson is one of the most overrated player's in this class IMO. He's bitter about not having on offer. The staff seen him in person, and have passed on him so far. I trust in them and not Rival's...
