LaTwan Anderson (official thread)

AmeriBuck007;1503889; said:
Rivals shoots him up in the rankings and we're suddenly idiotic for not offering him. It sounds like JT has a plan, we're in great shape with Hagan and Bryant and we'll wait on LJ as long as we have to. No reason to stockpile the position.

Is anybody familiar with the DB talent in the 2011 Ohio Class?

Amen. Rivals always seems to try and rank some Ohio guy we haven't offered really high. I think Anderson is a legit talent and I hope we offer eventually, but only if his ducks are in order. We will land Bryant and we have a great shot at Joyner, which if that happens, I'm not too worried about DB recruiting (especially considering the '11 DB prospects).

Palm Beach Gardens Dwyer TE Gerald Christian and Cleveland DB Latwan Anderson take MVP honors
By Chris Harry
Sentinel Staff Writer
July 25, 2009

LAKE BUENA VISTA - Gerald Christian didn't need a plaque proclaiming him the Offensive MVP of the ESPN Rise Games Gridiron Kings to validate his skills as a football player.

"I've already committed to Florida," Christian said after scoring five TDs and helping the Southeast capture the 7-on-7 tournament championship.

But safety Latwan Anderson came to Disney's Wide World of Sports from Ohio and brought a whole lot of attitude with him.

The doubts about his size and skill that Anderson has apparently heard along the recruitnik trail were rolled together into one big chip and neatly tucked inside the red shirt he wore while representing the West squad Saturday and intercepting six passes en route to Defensive MVP honors.

"I told the coaches, 'I ain't here for Disney,' " Anderson said after the tournament, his plaque by his side. "I'm out here to show what I can do. That I'm the best."

And?

Anderson flashed the plaque.

"There you go," he said.

Anderson, out of the same Cleveland Glenville High that produced Ted Ginn Jr., has not made a college of choice, but said West Virginia holds a slight edge over Michigan State, North Carolina, Miami, Florida and Cincinnati.

Don't know if this video was posted. Only one highlight, of what sounded like many, of Anderson.

Second video - In a color that looks good on him :wink2:

Video: Gridiron Kings 7-on-7 Tournament | Gridironstuds.com Blog

I've seen the kid in a few different 7-on-7s and the kid is a ball hawk like no other! I know you have to trust the coaching staff, but if there's a better S in High School right now....I'd like to see him.

I would give anything for Anderson to wear Scarlet and Gray at the next level...He has really become one of my favorite kids to watch.

So can the almost 10 questions per day about LaTwan stop now? Pleaaaaasse. Kid's a great talent, but with those words and the lack of an offer that HAS to douse whatever flame people still hold out for him.

Rivals$ (UGA)--Ohio DB has Georgia on his mind

LaTwan discusses UGA and various other schools. He says he doesn't have grade issues, he doesn't care about tOSU and the Buckeyes are listening to bad information regarding him.

Pretty harsh words for tOSU.

Yeah, but an offer might change his mind in an instant. I wish Michigan would try to pursue him but then again when was the last time a Glenville kid went to Michigan. It has been a long time.

I think some of you that have been quick to drop some less than stellar words about Anderson should bite your tongues a bit.

I hate Anderson words about Ohio State as much as anyone, but at the same time, your talking about a kid that sounds as if he's getting a cold shoulder from the school he wants to go to.

Listen to some of his quotes where he talks about how everyone says there are better people out there... Who is saying this other than Ohio State? (which I don't really believe Ohio State is saying anything negative, we just aren't giving him the offer he's looking for) He's listed as the number 2 Safety in the nation I believe by Rivals and I have yet to hear anyone say anything bad about Anderson on the field.... I think it's pretty clear that he's talking about Ohio State.

In another post, which I won't say where it's from or post a link, but Anderson uses some strong words and goes on to say...

"what else do i have to do first you hate me cuase i changes schools nwo you hate me cause i feel im the best welll... you know what i tried my best to keep cool but im (upset)"

The first part of that means nothing to Ohio State, but Anderson's only getting stronger looks from stronger schools... except for Ohio State so again, I think it's pretty clear that when he says he's upset or feels disrespected that he feels that way because of OSU.

Again, I hate that Anderson is upset and that he came out and said what he said...but if I had his talent and had a dream to playing with Ohio State then I would feel pretty upset as well.

All that said, I still feel an offer is coming, his talent is far too good to ignore!(I just hope we don't lose too much ground to West Virginia before he gets the piece of paper, I believe he's been waiting for) I think fans need to back off on the talk a little and try to understand where he's coming from - Some of you may end up eating your words in a few months.

Really listen to what the kid is saying and I think its VERY clear that when he says he's not think about Ohio State... He's really thinking about Ohio State and that what you want out of what possibly is the best Safety in the Nation at this time.

The quote from him about people hating on him is a lil upsetting. I think any Buckeye fan (outside of St Eds fans) is ecstatic he transfered to Glenville because it gives us more of a hope that he'll finally get an offer and gives us a better chance that he'll go to OSU. I hope for two things; he's not taking anything personal from the staff, and the staff truly isn't giving him the cold shoulder. The latter seems very unlikely though, my guess is the staff knows more about his "situation" than almost all of us.
