Weird Science kicks ridiculous amounts of ass. Clearly, John Hughes best movie.
Yes it did:

Varsity Blues was good too:

The controversial and experimental horror film Skinamarink.

I wanted to like it, I went in hoping I’d like it. I imagine this one will turn audiences against each other, with some saying “you’re not smart enough to get it” and others saying “you’re too stupid to realize you completely wasted your time watching a guy make a plotless home movie on crappy equipment.”

Me, I’m in the middle I guess. I get what he was trying to do (at least somewhat)…but it fell completely flat for me. You’ll love it or hate it, there’s no middle ground. For me…well…I can say I watched it.

Have been enjoying "Rings of Power" on Netflix, although not technically a movie, these limited series are quite enjoyable. Also like the "Wheel of Time" translation from book to screen. Only one season in the can, but second is supposed to be filming. So far, the adaptation has been semi-true to the book, but simply cannot put all the written detail into film. One complaint is that the book covers depict the protagonists one way, but on the screen, they aren't looking quite the same. Oh well, power of Hollywood.

I was going to say that it didn’t feel like the traditional superhero movie. Loved that about it.

I watched Guardians of the Galaxy a night or two ago. Liked it, but my expectations were so high that I felt slightly underwhelmed. It was very good though. Still at 3. But it was one of the few I expected could take over #1 from Iron Man. It did not.

1) Iron Man
2) Captain America: The Winter Soldier
3) Guardians of the Galaxy
4) Thor
5) The Avengers
6) Captain Marvel
7) Captain America: The First Avenger
8) Iron Man 3
9) Iron Man 2
10) Thor: The Dark World
11) The Incredible Hulk

You ate watching them in universe chronological order which will adjust the way you view them versus when they were released.

I don’t think that had anything to do with it. The only two movies that aren’t in release order at the point of that post were the first Captain America and Captain Marvel. And I still liked GOTG more. Everyone (irl friends) had me expecting Guardians to be my favorite. Probably just a victim of hype. Haha

Had to take a break though, crushing 10 movies in such a short time span was a poor life decision. lol

Quantumania -
If you liked the first two Antman movies and if you are in the mood to see an action-packed, escapist, sci-fi movie - you will like this.
No real character development, twists, or subtleness in the movie. Just seemed kind of lazy on the ol' plot.

All Quiet On The Western Front: great movie, though it strays way too far from the book.

Babylon: An enjoyable mess of a movie. At first, I thought the portrayal of the hedonism of 1920's Hollywood was way over exaggerated, but it was kind of historically accurate.
Liked AQotWF for what it was, but to me they left half of the story out, so it missed the mark. It was visually very good of course.

dear zachary is a painful, maddening, and outstanding documentary. i can't recommend it enough. please find the time to watch it.

edit: if you don't know the story but may watch the documentary, do not research it.

edit #2: there are few people in this world better than kate and dave bagby.

Watched a documentary. I can't recommend it enough and i'm not really going to describe it.

It's called "Dear Zachary" and I hope you get the chance to watch it. About 90 mins long and you can stream it on NetFlix, I strongly encourage you to check it out.

Wiki says that movie is some fucked up shit, brah.

dear zachary is an outstanding but heart-wrenching documentary. i definitely recommend not reading up on the film before watching it, though. you'll understand why.

Just got done watching a documentary called "Dear Zachary".

What.

The.

Fuck.

this is an outstanding but truly painful documentary. despite being so heart-rending, i highly recommend it. as i've stated earlier in the thread, though, do not read about the detailed plot prior to viewing. i will warn you that there is a point when the documentary takes your heart, squeezes it, stomps on it, and then throws it in an incinerator. yes, i'm still recommending it.

Good lord was that traumatic.

There were some choices the director made that I did not care for, but overall........ouch. :(

Finally got this from Netflix.

Wow. I can't think of another documentary that has affected me so much on an emotional level. Watching David Bagby's brutal honesty is just heart rending and something I empathized with on a personal level.

I actually fell in love with him and Kate.
I am about 15 years late from when Dear Zachary first debuted as a documentary but I remember reading about it in this thread.

Watched it last night and…yeah, that was quite the decision to make before bed. Absolutely gut wrenching and left me broken at certain parts. To see the raw emotions captured like that made it so real - whether you could relate to something like their situation or not.

Fascinating tale on the Bagby’s part and they are angels on earth. Truly.
