Went and saw AIR last night. Really good movie. Even if you know little about Basketball, or Jordan, or Nike it is a very compelling story. Viola Davis and Matt Damon in particular are outstanding. Ben Affleck as Phil Knight is hilarious and a killer sound track for fans of 80's pop.

Watched this on an airplane flight Friday. It really was a very good movie.

Watched this one too:

Hey, it was entertaining and helped kill off almost 2 hours on a long flight.

Saw Across the Spider-Verse Wednesday last week. Great movie and the animation is insane.

I also got a chance to see an advanced screening of The Flash. It was good with some interesting ideas behind it, but I do not think it lived up to the hype that has been going on around it. Plus Ezra Miller is just plain weird.

Asked a squadron commander from NAS Lemoore how he liked the Maverick sequal. Said he absolutely loved it. Nowhere near reality, but loved the flying scenes. Asked him how producers simulated the mountains in Iran from the deserts in Fallon or El Centro, and he just smiled and didn't answer. PS, the original showed Top Gun in San Diego, was located at Miramar. Now Top Gun is located in Fallon, NV. Nowhere near a beach, but plenty of open land with the Sierra Nevada mountains nearby. When I pointed out to wife, she said, "That's Hollywood for you". Great love story of naval air combat.

Part of having 8 & 10-year-old girls is occasionally having to go see things you would have zero interest in under any other circumstances. Tonight I had to sit through "Barbie." The pros: It has some genuinely meta-funny parts; quite a few, actually - it is well-acted for what it is - its intended message is a good one. The Cons: it spends nearly the whole movie quite literally beating you over the head with that message.
It's so on the nose my eyes started rolling out of my head mid-way through. With just a touch of subtlety, it could have been quite enjoyable. As it is, it takes its message and flips it almost 180 degrees, making it not really a message at all. 4/10 for me. The girls loved it, though, so at least there's that.

With the writer/actor strike, have been watching Netflix quite a bit. Didn't realize how many movies were out there that didn't make it to the local theaters. Anyway, been watching Longmire pretty much two or three episodes an evening. Have enjoyed an 'oater' quite a bit. The sheriff makes Sherlock look lame (well, almost), and enjoy how he connects the dots. Anyone notice that Lou Diamond Phillips, NEVER uses a contraction? PS, enjoy this ensemble. Halfway through the series, and the players are getting killed off with regularity. PS, any thoughts on where to go to find out when the next season of whatever series will come out (Eye of World, Reacher, etc). Thanks in advance.
