I’ve never seen any of the Marvel movies, aside from Iron Man. Didn’t even watch the second one of those.

I started the Marvel movies in chronological order yesterday. Watched the first Captain America, then Captain Marvel. They were entertaining. Captain Marvel was better than I expected. Thought people hated it. I thought Brie Larson was good.

Captain Marvel was notably review-bombed by shitheads that didn’t like Brie Larson’s politics, and those same shitheads then directed everyone to go see Alita: Battle Angel instead, because apparently James Cameron white-washing an Asian role with a Canadian actress with Asian bug eyes rotoscoped onto her face via CGI was more agreeable than Brie Larson not giving a shit about male film critics writing critical reviews of female actresses headspaces.

Captain Marvel was great and Brie Larson is a treasure. Both of my daughters were as captivated and inspired by her in that role as they were by Daisy Ridley in the final Star Wars trilogy.

I will fucking fight anyone that says otherwise.

It’s currently #2 on my MCU rankings.

As of this moment I have:
1) Iron Man
2) Captain Marvel
3) Thor
4) Captain America (whatever the first one is called)
5) The Incredible Hulk (forgot that was part of this universe in my original post, I saw it in theaters when it came out and I was fine with not seeing it again. But I’ll watch it whenever it comes up on my current chronological watch through)

But yeah, Brie did a great job and I enjoyed some of the goofiness of the movie. Especially when she’s just going apeshit towards the end.

I’m gonna keep updating the rankings whenever I watch a new one.

Captain Marvel will move down your list as you keep watching. Actually, all of those will start to move down your list.

Captain Marvel was good. Not top ten good but good. Better than Black Panther but nowhere near Civil War. After introducing BP in CW they fucked it up with too much CGI and now we lost a great actor and must believe his skinny sister is a badass.

I look forward to your MCU journey updates.

Planning on powering through. Watched two more last night.

Thor was much better than I remembered it being. It’s above Captain Marvel. I remembered it having some goofiness, but a few times I was cackling. “This mortal form grows weak” was perfect. Hemsworth is a charismatic sonofabitch.

Iron Man 2…. I watched the first 45 minutes before and thought it was fucking dumb. But the second half of that movie really gets pretty good. Wasn’t really a big fan of Rourke’s bad guy. Thought the movie was at its best when Rourke wasn’t in it and the tension was between Stark and Rhodes. It was fun throughout though.

I was going to watch The Incredible Hulk again, but it isn’t on Disney+. I didn’t like it when I watched it a while ago. I’m putting it at the bottom.

So now I have:
1) Iron Man
2) Thor
3) Captain Marvel
4) Captain America: The First Avenger
5) Iron Man 2
6) The Incredible Hulk

Definitely watching The Avengers tonight.

Thor movies will be interesting to read your thoughts.

Thor is a good movie intro.

Thor Dark World is okay. I liked it but most will have it in bottom 5.

Thor Ragnarok is top 5 for me but I am a Thor fanboy.

Thor Love & Thunder made me want to punch children. As you will see, Marvel wastes their villains and they totally screw this one up and they misuse Hemsworth and Crowe.

Knocked out a couple more. The Avengers was pretty exciting, I'm not a Hulk guy and thought they handled that aspect as well as they could have. Very much enjoyed this one. I feel like Iron Man is going to be tough to beat, but this one was the closest so far.

I would agree that A Dark World was ok. I actually typed "Thor: A Dark World was ok" before I re-read your post in which you said the exact same thing. lol. I'm noticing that the entertainment factor of all these is at 10. Even if this one isn't as good as most of the others so far, still fun to watch and definitely enjoyable. Liked seeing fuckin Heimdall get some steps in. Didn't see the ending happening. Liked that. Enjoyed some of the teleportation fuckery present in this movie, did think the fuckery got a little carried away at the end.

Updated rankings:
1) Iron Man
2) The Avengers
3) Thor
4) Captain Marvel
5) Captain America: The First Avenger
6) Iron Man 2
7) Thor: A Dark World
8) The Incredible Hulk

I don't know how much steam I have to keep crushing out a couple movies per night, but I feel like there's still plenty left in the tank. The football void is being filled! Next are Iron Man 3 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I remember hearing my friends say The Winter Soldier was awesome. That was 8 years ago and I don't talk to any of them anymore. Getting old, boys.

Iron Man 3 was poop. Just remember villain as they messed it up so bad that they had to create a short and reintroduce him in another movie to try and make it right.

Winter Soldier is really good and starts the civil war process. Remember that villain, if you ever watch the Disney+ shows.

The Winter Soldier was indeed badass.

Thought Iron Man 3 was fun, I feel like it was a little more fun than 2. Definitely not perfect.. Would I have liked it without RDJ? I'm not sure. Either way, after 6 there's a drop. And I like all these, minus Hulk. Very impressed so far, I see why everyone I've ever met has been hounding me to watch these.

1) Iron Man
2) Captain America: The Winter Soldier
3) Thor
4) The Avengers
5) Captain Marvel
6) Captain America: The First Avenger
7) Iron Man 3
8) Iron Man 2
9) Thor: The Dark World
10) The Incredible Hulk

Winter Soldier is what broke the mold for the MCU where they realized they didn’t have to do formulaic by the numbers super hero movies. Winter Soldier is an 80s espionage film where the protagonist just happens to be a super hero. It really set the bar to making the next dozen or so MCU films all individually great in their own ways.

It is also the example to hold up against a lot of DCU dreck for why those movies wind up so bad.

I taped a few "oldie" movies from the IFC (Independent Film Channel) channel. They do not edit the films; however, they do have commercials (but you can fast forward through them).

1. Animal House
2. Office Space
3. Weird Science
4. Varsity Blues

I had never seen Weird Science and Varsity Blues before and they were were quite good too.

I was going to say that it didn’t feel like the traditional superhero movie. Loved that about it.

I watched Guardians of the Galaxy a night or two ago. Liked it, but my expectations were so high that I felt slightly underwhelmed. It was very good though. Still at 3. But it was one of the few I expected could take over #1 from Iron Man. It did not.

1) Iron Man
2) Captain America: The Winter Soldier

5) The Avengers

8) Iron Man 3

I'm halfway through All Quiet On The Western Front. Read the book in high school, and it was one of the most influential books that I've ever read. This film version makes Saving Private Ryan look like a sanitized cardboard hero John Wayne WW2 movie.

Interestingly, this was one of (maybe the first) book that the Nazis banned after coming to power.

Weird Science kicks ridiculous amounts of ass. Clearly, John Hughes best movie.
