DVR from the IFC channel, at least they don't edit the film and on DVR you can fast forward through the commercials. Initially I thought it was kind of goofy; however, it did get better as the movie went along and the plot (what there was of it) developed. I'd give it (maybe) 2 1/2 stars out of 5 rating.

Very funny movie; similar to There's Something About Mary. It has lots of "laugh out loud in the theater" lines. It's a movie that your wife/girlfriend would really enjoy too as most of the humor is especially relevant to wives, mothers, kid's school, and the PTA , etc.

Saw "The Accountant" last night. Felt it was worth the time and money. Would encourage people to see it because of the writing and depth.

I was prepared to see an unrealistic depiction of an assassin with a lot of violence. What I saw was a semi-unrealistic depiction of an assassin with a lot of violence, but with an amazing number of themes and sub-themes.

This is a story about:
An assassin fronting as an accountant
Autism/Asperger's Syndrome
- effect on family
- how difficult it is to connect with others and feel empathy
- genius in the autism spectrum
Fathering/parenting/broken home
Importance of family first
Bullying
Brothers
Honesty about source of law enforcement career success
Corporate corruption
Mini-love story
Art/paintings

And I'm sure I have left some out.

I am partway through the extended cut of Suicide Squad. I didn't like the theatrical release very much, but I really like the extended cut so far. Fun quippy interactions with the Squad and more time at the prison. Or it is exactly the same so far, and only my mood has changed.

Counts as "watching on TV" too, since it's on TCM: The Swarm. The military is very concerned with an invasion by The Africans. (Bees, that is.)

For those who enjoy such diversions, it would make a pretty good drinking game (assuming you aren't concerned with alcohol poisoning.)

Pour one every time an actor walks into a scene that you recognize and can name.

So far...

Michael Caine
Richard Widmark
Henry Fonda
Katherine Ross
Slim Pickens
Richard Chamberlain
Olivia de Havilland
Fred MacMurray
Patty Duke
Lee Grant
Jose Ferrer

Probably safer to restrict the drinks to 3.2 beer.

What's this about the original?

You are right. I didn't know that:

The Magnificent Seven is a 1960 American Western film directed by John Sturgesand starring Charles Bronson, Yul Brynner, Horst Buchholz, James Coburn, Brad Dexter, Steve McQueen, Robert Vaughn, and Eli Wallach. The film is an Old West-style remake of Akira Kurosawa's 1954 Japanese masterpiece Seven Samurai.

Which reminds me, if you liked "The Departed", check out "Infernal Affairs", the Hong Kong movie that it remade.
