Hell of a good movie...though not enjoyable in the traditional sense. Really was where Page got noticed.

Ironically, I watched The Huntsman on Netflix last night, which was also about similar subject matter. The crowning scene is both disgustingly creepy but poetically revealing at the same time. Kevin Bacon was masterful as usual.

We went to Flickers many times (back in the 70's). I'm thinking it was at the Graceland Shopping Center though.

Back then it was a local family run business, some guy named Ackerman owned it. The one on Refugee started out as the Forum 1-2-3, and I'm thinking the Graceland cinema was a Jerry Lewis Theater.

There was definitely a Flickers at Worthington Square too, also owned by the Ackermans, up until mid-1985.

I saw it was rated well. Ebert gave it 3.5 stars. I thought the dialogue and premise of Hard Candy was pretty trite, and lost its eeriness quickly.

I did like the Woodsman though, which I also randomly watched this past week.

It started out well but went full on Fast and the Furious with the action. I found it to be okay at best and definitely the worst of the 3 by a wide margin (I enjoyed the second one unlike most).

Watched Deepwater Horizon the other night. Pretty intense movie. Can't believe none of those BP guys got away with what happened with like zero punishment.


also saw The Accountant. I swear, 15 years ago people made fun of Affleck for everything he did. Now everything he touches turns to gold. I thought it was a great movie.

(because all I ever get to see anymore are animated films)

Really enjoyed this one (more than Zootopia even.) I almost didn't go (almost stayed home with the baby before mother-in-law said she would watch her) but I am glad that I did. It has a good cast and the music that they used was pleasantly surprising. Songs by The Beatles, Elton John, Stevie Wonder etc...It wasn't just teen girl music.

I don't think there is a person on this board who wouldn't enjoy this movie, regardless of your taste in films. Check it out.
