Imitation game was good.

Watched The Visit tonight. It wasn't terrible. Had a few funny moments and the story was so stripped down and familiar that even MNS couldn't fuck it up. I like the actor that played the grandpa, he's been in a lot of stuff. Otherwise it was just OK...and I have come to the conclusion that I by and large hate anything that has kids in the main roles, because it typically sucks. 2/4, not as painfully awful as the Village but not a "MNS is back" either.

Could have done without the kid rapping. The scene where gramps had the shotgun in his mouth and said "oh, I'm just cleaning it" was hilarious.

Mission Impossible Rogue Nation - another fun installment in this classic series. The stunts were not as outlandish as ghost protocol (a welcome change with the furious 7 stupidity still fresh ) but I found it to be an enjoyable rental. Not close to the original but a decent add on.

With Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, we're getting the best Bond movie since Casino Royale in 2006.
I liked Skyfall better but this definitely felt like a bond flick. Also note that this review was before spectre was out.

Perhaps it's a shade lighter on the mind-warping trickery-within-chicanery effects seen in previous Missions, but on the other hand the interplay between the characters achieves a lightness of touch rare in your average blockbuster.

Jurassic World.

What a turd. The original Jurassic Park had its flaws and I'm sure nostalgia plays a role in my high opinion of it, but it's 10x the movie JW is.

I'm guessing the younger kid is supposed to be autistic or something but it doesn't work. Chris Pratt was my 2nd favorite character in Parks and Rec and he kicked ass in GotG. I wasn't impressed with him at all. He was doing some half-assed southern accent that got stronger at times and completely non existent at other times.

Seriously disappointed.

Also watched Train Wreck. I dug it. Overall I'd recommend it. The scene with Lebron and Bill Hader at lunch where they talked about splitting the bill was hilarious

I'd take Jurassic World over Train Wreck any day and Rogue Nation was better than both of them. I couldn't wait for Train Wreck to end and really only enjoyed the Lebron scenes. I'm still pissed that JW was the second biggest movie of last year. I didn't hate it, but it didn't deserve to beat Avengers.
