The Informant

LOL The fact that it was base don a true story is just, well, hilarious to me. I know more than a few people that think the same way that guy did: "If I just keep rationalizing situations whether true or not, people will eventually believe me!!"
I thought it was a terrific commentary on that world, especially since this was a true story.

I thought they went a bit heavy on the dry humor and skipped a lot of laughs. Damon's quips in the voice overs were the only laughter causing moments, leading to an intentionally dull and tedious movie.

Finally saw Interstellar. My wife and I really enjoyed it.

I really liked the gravity and emotion of the movie and the character development and exploration of humanity was terrific. The "interstellar" part was a bit out there but frankly there was no way to supply that without it being bizarre.

The whiners complaining about it being too slow can get back to their michael bay trash (note I didn't read that here).
I'm going to sound like a pretentious prick here, but Nolan lost his free pass with me with DKR.
I really don't get why everyone hated DKR, especially given how epic the first one was and how Joker may never be topped as a villain. It was not as great as the other two but I thought he earned enormous capital with the other two. The response is similar to the matrix sequels.
My hesitation to see Interstellar seems warranted. I'll wait until I don't have to pay for it.
Maybe a free library rental plays into this, but I don't think so
Christopher Nolan just lost his free pass. Not sure what I was expecting from Interstellar, but that wasn't it. Need more Inception less 2001 A Space Odyssey/Contact.
Inception lives in the land of imagination. This is trying to imagine a new slice of reality, which is much less forgiving. I thought they did a pretty good job for most of the movie.

I think it just lacked inspiration. It tried to follow the same narrative as TDK with the Big Bad Bane vs. Gotham angle and just didn't tell a good story. There was far too much suspension of disbelief when it came to resolution of conflict, too. Maybe had Nolan had the opportunity to make the 3 hour movie he really wanted it would've been different.

I didn't expect it to touch TDK, but I didn't even like DKR as much as I did Batman Begins.

That being said. I think Affleck is about to own Batman better than Bale did and that statement would've sounded ridiculous to me 3 years ago.

Interstellar is a rich man's gravity. I was not actively rooting for space to slay the main character.
Interstellar is legitimate sci-fi/speculative fiction. It isn't going to appeal to the LCD crowd.

It has a freakin' tesseract for Sagan's sake!

I was also pleasantly surprised by The Martian. Loved the book but wasn't sure Hollywood would do it justice (in general Mars movies have been terrible). I'm happy to say it was very well done.

I believe the concepts and most of the science in interstellar were as accurate as modern science knows. Keep in mind Kip Thorne, a noted astrophysicist, was involved in as a producer and vetted to the screenplay. I had seen interviews where he stated he told Nolan that he wouldn't be involved if the physics wasn't sound. Again it might not be 100% accurate but it's closer than most.

I had heard the same about the Martian it was staggeringly accurate except for one scene which everyone seemed ok with

Loved both movies.

Even though it left us with an ending loaded with open possibilities, I liked TDKR for still giving a sense of a satisfaction in the closing act. Wayne presumably dead, Blake taking over the cave, Batman's reputation as a protector restored, etc etc. It's worth noting that TDK took a great movie that was Batman Begins, and improved upon it in almost every single way - Having as grand a close wasn't likely. However it was near impossible with Ledger's death. I'm confident the story line suffered some radical changes with that loss. While I feel Leto will make a fine Joker for Suicide Squad, (much like Mark Hamill fits with the animated series) the only man worthy of the role in Nolan's universe was Heath.

The Matrix sequels could have had a chance. Reloaded wasn't bad. Revolutions was just awful. The first was great at being a self contained story with emphasis on character development and great visuals.

The sequels slowly destroyed that. At least it felt that way to me. What we had in the first movie quickly became a CGI fest in the next two. Some characters introductions were nice but felt underdeveloped and/or raw.
On top of some of the confusion and complete lack of explanation to certain plot points.
