Even though it left us with an ending loaded with open possibilities, I liked TDKR for still giving a sense of a satisfaction in the closing act. Wayne presumably dead, Blake taking over the cave, Batman's reputation as a protector restored, etc etc. It's worth noting that TDK took a great movie that was Batman Begins, and improved upon it in almost every single way - Having as grand a close wasn't likely. However it was near impossible with Ledger's death. I'm confident the story line suffered some radical changes with that loss. While I feel Leto will make a fine Joker for Suicide Squad, (much like Mark Hamill fits with the animated series) the only man worthy of the role in Nolan's universe was Heath.

The Matrix sequels could have had a chance. Reloaded wasn't bad. Revolutions was just awful. The first was great at being a self contained story with emphasis on character development and great visuals.

The sequels slowly destroyed that. At least it felt that way to me. What we had in the first movie quickly became a CGI fest in the next two. Some characters introductions were nice but felt underdeveloped and/or raw.
On top of some of the confusion and complete lack of explanation to certain plot points.
Agreed all around. I understand disappointment (given the glorious highs of the first two) but the vitriol towards DKR is gigantic.

After a long hiatus, I'm partially surpred with how entertaining reloaded is, because mentally it gets lumped together with the ai nonsense of the third. I enjoyed the grandeur of the attack on Zion but everything that was great about Neo vs Smith in the original (and pieces of the sequel) was overcome by the absurdly overboard and visually unconvincing agent interactions in the finale.

Matrix Reloaded lost me with the terrible, terrible fight scene between CGI Neo & eleventy thousand CGI Elronds.

Matrix Revolutions? Rainbow coalition rave yo!

Just saw The Force Awakens again, and it was just as amazing as opening night. Also the first movie I've actually gone back and watched a second time in theaters, even though there's always been at least one movie a year for several years now I've said that about. If I can convince my wife to see it, I'll gladly go back a 3rd time. I still got big chills at the end and during the lightsaber battle.

Finally saw James Bond Spectre.

Was planning on seeing it when it came out, but it wasn't showing after like two weeks here in town and I missed it.

Not bad, not as good as Skyfall. Will likely watch it again here tonight or tomorrow.

As for the Matrix, they should have had #2 pick up where #1 left off with that great Rage tune and Neo flying into the sky out of a phone booth like Superman or some shit.

Neo back in the Matrix, but aware. I would have had him reject Morpheus and use his superpowers in the Matrix and then eventually be turned back by Trinity in time for the big battle in #3. Just because his mind is freed, doesn't mean he wants any part of Morpheus and his plans.

I think #2 would have been better if it was Neo's choice to stay in the Matrix and then realize while he was free to choose, some choices are just wrong and have him flip flop to Morpheus and crew. Maybe some shit about his choice and Trinity's choice not meshing up and some sacrifice there. Libertarian fantasy land he realizes that he can't make that choice for the rest of the residents of the Matrix. Basically he chooses to stay in the Matrix now that he has superpowers and still wants to be with Trinity in the shitty real world too. He just doesn't want to tear down the whole system (kind of like those dependent on unlimited money printing and the other various government ponzi schemes).

Basically Neo would be like a real life (memorex?) Superman or maybe even Will Smith's Hancock, the Agents wouldn't want him messing up their illusion and would be fighting him, Morpheus and crew would be chasing him so they could free his mind / turn him to their cause (kind of like Annakin / Luke in that he was trained too late but he doesn't buy in and wants the best of both worlds for himself), and Neo just can't stay away from Trinity so they catch up to him often but can't do shit other than have Trinity leave the Matrix and Neo alone in his digital world with all the power and money and whatnot that he wants, but no Trinity. That's her free choice and only leverage.

Was fairly convinced that was the story arc coming after seeing #1. Disappointed in #2 and #3, but I haven't seen them in forever so maybe they hold up better.

Deadpool has been getting a lot of love on the internet. Aside from just checking the 'thumbs up/down' and star rating - I've avoided any information because I don't want it spoiled.

I haven't been this excited about anything entertainment related since the launch of Half Life 2. Maybe Starcraft 2....? Before this, a movie had never come close.

Watched The Night Before today. Was pretty funny. Classic Seth Rogan on drugs throughout. Pretty funny. Joseph Gordon Levitt was solid as always. Michael Shannon was a hilarious weed dealer. Outshined everybody in his limited role.

Best line of the movie is a shrooming Jewish Rogan at midnight mass. See's a depiction of Jesus on the cross and screams out "They think we did that to him?"

82% positive on Rotten Tomatoes with over 100 reviews in, and of the 20 or so negative reviews probably half were people that obviously weren't the target demographic. The other half weren't that critical.

Can't wait... I'll be in my seat at the Cinemark less than two hours from now.

Beyond jealous. I told my friends I'd wait until Saturday otherwise I'd be taking off work tomorrow and going to see it tonight.

Don't spoil it. Just make sure to stop by and give me the thumbs up/down for the rest of us.

Deadpool was great; wife loved it too. The target audience really skews age 40 and up as a lot of the dialogue and fourth wall breaks reference 80s pop culture (Meredith Baxter, Bernadette Peters, Wham!). Especially helpful to have seen the previous Marvel movies (there's a hilarious mention of McAvoy and Stewart, as well as repeated disses of the universally hated Barakapool from Origins: Wolverine).

Stay through the credits. Bonus movie spoof afterwards.

I think that might've been the first Marvel movie with female nudity due to the R rating (I think Hulk might've been naked in one of the Hulk films).

Funny, throughout the movie I kept thinking that Morena Baccarin was distractingly hot (I didn't mention that to my wife).

Spoiler Alert
One of the better lines in the movie was when Colossus said "Language" when Wade cursed and the response (from Wade) was a loud "Suck a Cock".

For me if it isn't MCU it isn't Marvel. Looking forward to this one on DVD.

Not sure why licensing agreements signed 20 years ago and inter-studio political BS would deter somebody from seeing a great movie?

Good luck avoiding spoilers, though.

Box Office: Ryan Reynolds' 'Deadpool' on Fire Friday for $90M-Plus Debut

Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool is on fire at the Friday box office, where it's on course to gross $35 million-plus for the day and $90 million or more over the long Valentine's Day/Presidents Day weekend, according to early returns.

Deadpool is proving an even bigger victory that expected for Reynolds and Fox. Tracking had suggested the irreverent superhero movie — one of the rare Marvel comic book movies to be rated R — would open to $65 million or $70 million over the four-day holiday weekend. Some even believe it could crack $100 million.

Friday's haul includes $12.7 million in Thursday night previews, the biggest ever for an R-rated film and the biggest of all time for the month of February.Fox made the movie per its licensing deal with Marvel Enterprises for the X-Men universe of characters.

The previous top Thursday night opening for an R-rated film belonged to The Hangover Part II($10.4 million), which launched over Memorial Day weekend in 2011, followed by Fifty Shades of Grey ($8.6 million) a year ago on its way to scoring the top Presidents Day weekend debut of all time with $93 million. Deadpool even beat Disney and Marvel Studios' Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($10.2 million) and Guardians of the Galaxy ($11.2 million).

Cont'd ...
