Saw Cabin in the Woods last night...way over the top, which I guess was the point. Certainly had some clever moments, but fell a bit short for me on the hype it has gotten. 2.5 or 3/5, decent flick and worth watching, but not one I will watch over and over.

I really liked it. Then again it tickled my geek vibe & I was never a fan of slasher flicks until films like Nightmare on Elm St. & Evil Dead II cropped up to poke fun at (stupidity of) the genre.

Watched this last night. I had never read the book. I thought it was great. I appreciated that it was somewhat subtle. Most spy/espionage films today beat you over the head to make sure you don't miss a plot point and/or are more like action blow-up everything films.

I found it too long and pretty boring. I think I may have taken a 10 min nap in the middle of it.

Never disappoints... The whole flashback story to Vito Corleone's upbringing (with DeNiro) and the story behind Don Fanucci is fucking amazing.

I watch this movie over and over, and it never gets old.

I've seen the three Swedish films, I liked this better. One of the better movies I've seen. The rape scene was hard to get through. I knew what the ending would be like, however I still felt bad for her at the end. Can't wait for the other two movies to release.

BTW, I may be in the minority here, but I think Lisbeth is pretty sexy.

Saw a couple this weekend:

"The Tall Man": New Pascal Laugier movie with Jessica Biel. It is getting stoned by American viewers, but I just don't think they get Laugier's films. This one is much different than "Martyrs" in terms of having virtually no violence on screen, but the extreme plot twists and the sociopolitical commentary at the end are Laugier staples. I liked it, 3/5, not iconic but certainly not bad.

"Alexandra's Project": Clever little Aussie Indie that takes found footage in an entirely different direction. Again, not an iconic, repeat watch film, but not bad, I could see people either liking it or hating it, but I give it 3/5 also.

Inherit the Wind (1960's version)

Spencer Tracy played one hell of a part.

AMC was doing a Tracy/Kramer run last night with Inherit the Wind, Judgement at Nuremburg, Guess Who's Coming for Dinner?, and It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World. Got the other 3 on the DVR for the rest of the week.

Wathced the second movie in the Tracy/Kramer run; Judgement at Nuremburg. Good movie, but does have actual footage of what they found when the concentration camps were discovered. Not for the faint of heart during that scene.

"Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" is on tap for tonight.
