Went and saw Argo today... Great. [censored]ing. Movie.

Stellar cast, great soundtrack, very detailed and almost exact representation. Best 5 bucks I've spent in a long time.

9/10

Great movie; however, there was a lot of stuff added (that didn't really happen) to enhance and/or create suspense in the movie. In case someone asks for links:

Sorry maybe I shouldn't have said exact considering it is a movie, and some things are going to be sensationalized a bit to build suspense, or add to the movies ability to draw you in. None-the-less, I was absolutely blown away.

Easily one of the two best movies of 2012. (The Dark Knight Rises being the other)

Saw Argo too. Really good movie. They take some liberties with the actual facts to make it more suspenseful, so it's sort of "inspired by real life events." Yet it works really well, is very well acted (although Ben Affleck is only ok IMO), and is suspenseful even though most of that part is fiction.

Somewhat of a spoiler....

I wish they would have given Tony Mendez more character. From the articles I read on him he seems like a pretty personable guy. He even talks about how he chose the fake movie in order to make it fun for the people he was rescuing (he also figured everyone knows at least a little something about the movie industry), and overall he and the "hostages" got to know one another and it was rather fun at times. He jokes that their time together could have been like any average cocktail party in Washington DC. They just happened to be surrounded outside by people looking to kill them. His accounts come across a little more lighthearted, even during the actual rescue mission, but the movie makes him incredibly serious and of course makes the mission very suspenseful.

halfway through Prometheus.........where the fuck are the aliens?

WARNING, tons of spoilers. Pretty funny (and weird), and asks a lot questions I had.

BTW, huge spoiler, but the whole thing about them wanting to kill us is pretty simple. They noted the aliens were dead for 2000 years. Yeah, Jesus was an engineer sent to Earth, and humans killed him. So the engineers decided to kill us because of that. The whole thing is full of mythological and biblical allegories (many just shoved down our throats). Some work, some don't, and of course there is just some plain silly stuff going on that can't be explained other than it was stupid (which the video above touches on).

 That's pretty funny. I pretty much had the same questions. I love Sci fi but this movie was a big disappointment for me.

I was really into it for the first half (maybe first third, yet you get the idea), and then the whole second half just sucked. Ridley Scott tried to do way too freaking much with that movie. It led to some stupid moments, and the pacing/suspense just got completely destroyed in the process.

It doesn't help when the main character is obsessed with why they wanted to kill us. Hell, I figured it out right away. Those aliens you found were dead for 2000 years. What the hell happened 2000 years ago dumbass!? Hey bitch, maybe the fact it was also Christmas would give you a clue, or hey, maybe that cross you are obsessed with could give you a clue.

It kind of sucks because I was really into the movie at first. Well, except the scene where they have Guy Pearce in shitty makeup show up. What the hell was Scott thinking there? Get an old freaking actor. When I was watching I thought "oh, at some point the engineers will give him some sort of fountain of youth and he will become young. So they needed a young actor since it's much easier to make someone young look old than the other way around." Nope, they decided Guy Pearce in shitty makeup made for a better old guy than an actual old actor. WTF?

edit: I had to look it up. I guess there was a flashback scene with a young Weyland that got cut. Makes more sense now. See video

Why it was cut, I don't know. Fits pretty well.

Saw Cabin in the Woods last night...way over the top, which I guess was the point. Certainly had some clever moments, but fell a bit short for me on the hype it has gotten. 2.5 or 3/5, decent flick and worth watching, but not one I will watch over and over.

A little long and annoying, but pretty good at answering most of the questions:
