Hell of a good movie, though I don't know many people I'd recommend it to.

'Green Lantern'...worth the price of admission. A little slow getting started, but the last 2/3 is pretty fun, IMO. It's getting savaged by critics, and is certainly no 'Dark Knight' or 'Ironman', but it's no worse than your typical summer popcorn flick...7/10

Super 8. Merely a 7.5. Kids were great, but there's no real connection with the rest of the cast/characters. One of the downfalls of having the monster hidden throughout, when the resolution comes, the feeling is missing.

Plus, it didn't look at all like the part of Ohio it was supposed to be located in.

I live in the area where they the plot was based (southern suburbs of Dayton) I had the same remark when I noticed a lot of rolling hills, I heard they had filmed in West Virginia.
I did like the movie though; what I expected: J.J. Abrams does E.T.

Like the movie Se7en, it was supposed to take place in New York but suddenly they're in the desert? Turns out almost the whole movie was filmed in California

Took the kids to see Green Lantern for Fathers Day. Not bad. A bit slow at times. Decent story line and effects. The female co-star is gorgeous. (Blake Lively) Last scene sets up a sequel. Kids loved it. Steak, salad and sweet potato and a Manhattan after. Good day!

Saw a couple of the new films this weekend on DVD:

The Rite: Ehhh. Anthony Hopkins is always good, but the character development was somewhat lacking, they threw the chick reporter just kind of into it just to have a chick, and quite frankly this is another in a long line proving there will never be another exorcism movie after the Exorcist. Couple of stars maybe, no more.

True Grit: Ehhh Part 2. It wasn't bad, certainly had a good enough cast. The dialogue was hard to understand, I think they tried to hard to do both the 19th century words and the accents, so it was just hard to make out WTF anyone was saying. When Rooster was on the stand it almost sounded like he had a tit in his mouth while he was talking. I thought the resolution of the plot was not very good, and for being such a dangerous fugitive, the guy was basically a pussy. Couple of stars again.
