The Iron Man, Thor, Captain America etc movies are all being put together because the master plan is to pull them all together for an Avengers movie in a couple of years.

at first i was pissed when i heard they were chopping it in half, but now, I'm glad they did, 7th book is way too important to miss something, everything needs to be wrapped up
