Relentlessly depressing, but brilliant acting and direction.

Don't watch this if you're feeling a little suicidal.

True Grit - maybe it's just me.. but Jeff Bridges consistently underwhelms me and I can't think of a worse performance by Matt Damon either.. very shallow

The best acting was the little girl, Hailee Steinfeld

If you folks have pretty much exhausted your list of movies, one of my all time favs is Mississippi Burning with Hackman and Dafoe

Saw this on the history channel last night, not bad. I'd watch American Gangster and The Godfather (I, II & III) before this though. Watching it without commercial interruption would have probably made Goodfellas better.

Mobster flicks and TV don't mix well. Watch it on DVD, you'll appreciate it much more. I own the Godfather 30th Anniversary box set and American Gangster, movies that should not be on TV as well.

Goodfellas > American Gangster and Godfather Part III by a wide margin imo. I like it more than any of the Godfather movies actually, but still. :p

Marvel is in the process of bringing all of their properties in house so they have more creative control (and since the value of comic movies has skyrocketed).

The Iron Man, Thor, Captain America etc movies are all being put together because the master plan is to pull them all together for an Avengers movie in a couple of years.

I believe that they are hoping to put out such a huge movie with the Avengers that the movies leading up have been less spectacular. Thor was a good movie, Iron'Man did decline a bit, and the second make of Hulk was good. If Capatin America is decent then it will build up perfectly to the Avenger movie. They have to make it a hit though.

the payoff will def be the epicness that is the 2nd half...and I wouldn't say it was irrelevant, not sure if you read the books, but that's basically what the 1st half or so of the book was is finding these horcorxus (there literally was no action in the first part of the book) so it was gonna be boring..I won't go into detail about the book for those that haven't read it

at first i was pissed when i heard they were chopping it in half, but now, I'm glad they did, 7th book is way too important to miss something, everything needs to be wrapped up

Yep, a couple of times. I doubt I'll have time to re-read them before the final chapter hits theaters, but it would be nice. I recall being utterly bored reading the first part of DH, but like you said, it was kinda planned.
