Good Luck Chuck - in case you needed more reasons to hate Dane Cook, this rampant failure even manages to make Jessica Alba annoying to watch. Turned it off after ten minutes of torture on cable tv.

Oceans Eleven - classic as always. It is a shame little affleck doesn't get more roles.

Throw Momma from the Train - Well just meet her. Maybe she'll be somebody you'd LIKE to kill.

Here's what I've been up to the last couple weeks...

Band of Brothers

Building a home theater/football viewing room. This screen is 12ft wide and nearly 7ft tall. The fridge in the pic is 10 or so feet in front of the screen, but gives an idea of scale. I will never go to a movie theater again! <evil laugh>

Law Abiding Citizen is horribly underrated. If the ending didn't suck, it would be in my top 10

I have a separate list for movies that as I'm watching them I think to myself "this movie is outstanding" then end up utter trash because of the final 15-30 minutes.

Law Abiding Citizen is definitely one of them. Others I can think of off of the top of my head are The Adjustment Bureau, Knowing and Lucky Number Slevin.

it was his life story. Perhaps in the future someone else will market or script a narrative more to your liking

Correction:

It was an intellectually dishonest justification for his life decisions.

The problem with Law Abiding Citizen is that the supposed "good guys" are so unlikable you're rooting for their death. I was rooting for a Count of Monte Cristo type of ending.

It was just OK. The 3D effects were not that special. I thought it was better than #3, but not as good as #1 or #2. The story line is that they are looking for the fountain of youth. Jack Sparrow acquired a map. There are lots of action scenes throughout; however, it does drag during the middle part of the show (i.e. too much cutting their way through Hawaii's rain forest in search of the fountain, etc.). There could have been some "hot" mermaids; however, they cover over their boobies (i.e. Disney movie). Keith Richards has a cameo role (plays Captain Teague, Jack Sparrow's father again) and has a great line when asked if he about the fountain of youth; he replied: "Does this face look like I found the fountain of youth?". He probably could have easily done that role/line without the makeup.

There is a very short addition after all the credits are done. The Jack Sparrow voodoo doll washes ashore; Cruz picks it up and gives a evil smile.

I saw where there are tentitive plans to do a Pirates #5 and #6 already providing #4 makes money and Depp signs on.

I found On Stranger Tides to be an outstanding movie. The start was a little slow, as they were developing some new story lines and there was barely any tie-in to the previous Pirates. The only bad thing I can really say about the movie as a whole was that there were no ship battles, but they weren't needed with the storyline. I also thoroughly enjoyed how Jack Sparrow was portrayed and used in the story.

As for the 3D aspect, I don't view 3D as anything more than a depth enhancer for the most part, anymore. I will say the opening scene caused me (and pretty much everyone else at the midnight showing) to jump. It is definitely dark for a Disney movie, which I loved, but still had a lot of the humor I expect in the Pirates movies. As much as sequels and an unending movie series can be annoying, I will not be disappointed if they come out with another movie or two and Depp stays on.
