new girlfriend = new set of favorites

So it was good and bad...I spent last night watching her two favorites...Wedding Crasher (plus) and Love Actually (minus)...luckily the latter was slightly offset by the wassail I made.

The Hangover: Hilarious. It didn't disappoint.

The Ugly Truth: Decent chick flick that could have done without some of the language. Quite a bit raunchier than expected. We watched the movie with my mother-in-law, so there were a few moments that were a bit more awkward/uncomfortable than they would have been otherwise.

UP!: Watched it with the wife and kids. Disney does some great story telling.

Avatar (IMAX 3D)

If it weren't for the visuals I think it would've been rather ordinary, but there were definitely visuals. 8/10

I'm pretty sure I heard at least two noises that dinosaurs from Jurassic Park made though. That was annoying. The horse things made raptor sounds and that big ass lion thing made T-Rex sounds.

Sam Worthington is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Not seeing it in 3D is like going to Thurmans and getting a salad.

There are also some references to prior movies like Aliens. (i.e. the machines and some music during action sequences)

LOVED Avatar. My god. It is a victim of overhype (thanks to James Cameron himself).

But no matter, dude, it was sick.

Just saw it tonight and completely agree. Bad ass movie.

Recently:

The Fantastic Mr. Fox: 8.5/10 - This film just kicked ass. I was disappointed that it didn't really stick to the plot of the book, but I still enjoyed it.

The Hurt Locker: 9.5/10 - As OchoCinco would say, "WAMW give this shit an Oscar already"

Inglorious Basterds: 9/10 - Lots of crazy QT shit in this film, but not as action-packed as the previews made you believe.

I still really want to see Invictus.
