"Let the Right One Enter"

I don't even know what to say. It was definitely a moody and MUCH better written movie then most creepy flicks. It's Swedish, snowy, and they don't focus on superfluous dialogue. . . And it nails the genre it is competing with quite handily - though I recommend you don't read about it first. Figure it out as you watch it. . . All you have to know is boy is picked on, boy makes new friend, mean boys who pick on him regret it and fear the dark. :)

It is really an excellent movie.

District 9

I can't believe I missed Districts 1-8, but you know they must have been foreign flicks.

Really good movie. Different kind of Sci Fi. Sure it featured lots of jumpy cam, and there are some plot holes. (almost 24 sized IMO) but it is unique.

Yeah. It is a ten. It is impossible to get out of your mind. It made me get the book, which has more detail and is even creepier, if possible. The two 12 year old actors are simply perfect for the parts, and as is very, very unusual in the genre, the movie works because it is much more character development driven than a scary slasher/ quick camera angle change, cheap trick using horror flick.

You essentially "get into" the characters like any good movie. GREAT choice kinch.

What'd the Cortesana think about it?

Edit: Muck - have you seen it yet in Swedeville?

Ok I will talk about the movie I've just seen below, but I have a quick question to my fellow movie buffs:

Should I:

A) Get the entire Stanley Kubrick Collection on DVD for 30 bucks (7 movies)
B) Buy them all separately on Blu Ray over a span of a couple months because they are 20 bucks a pop?

Last movie I saw was Inglorious Basterds. Great movie, but the first part was f**king epic... The first part is some of the best 20 mins I've ever spent in a movie theater. The rest of the movie is good, but that part is SPECTACULAR.

Depends on if HD really matters that much to you. The Kubrick films that I've seen on Blu Ray have transferred well. You can currently pick up 2001 for $9.99 and The Shining for $16.99 at FYE. I know the one in Polaris is doing this, because I bought 2001 last week and worked there up until two weeks ago. :tongue2:

The 7 for $30 is a good deal though.

JCVD - Jean Claude Van Damme starts as an over the hill actor whose career is in the toilet who finds himself caught up in a real life situation that mirrors his films. The actor/character's name? Why Jean Claude Van Damme of course!

Seriously this is the best flick I've ever seen Van Damme in...(I loved Bloodsport, but gotta admit it's pure cheese)...JVCD is in French (with subtitles) but there's an English dub for the isolationists among us.

Just took in Seven Pounds. Whew - what a way to go about obtaining redemption. Takes a script that could easily turn sappy and pushes the edge of believability, but still makes a haunting, powerful story. Not for a night when you need something entertaining.

Not sure if this counts but my girlfriend got me the Neverender DVDs...four nights of Coheed and Cambria playing their four albums straight through. Watched Disc 1 yesterday and plan to watch Disc 2 (which is the one I am really looking forward to) tonight.
