So, if you sign a contract that says you are a part of a consortium of team(s) and conferences that agree to the plan to select two teams to play a National Championship game, the winner to be declared the National Champion, you would then feel free to break that contract if matters broke in a way that didn't favor you?

Just a huge what if, but what if, in 2003, after destroying Iowa in the Orange Bowl USC would have claimed that the NC was theirs? There were certainly enough people griping about the choice of the "Luckeyes" to be in the NC game...

I didn't sign a contract. :p

NCAA D1A football has had many 'rating agencies' or competing polls, etc. over the years - of this you are well aware. I'm certain the some of the years that Ohio State 'claims' NCs, there are other teams that also claim the same, albeit through a different 'rating agency' or poll. It doesn't bother me that this has occurred in the past, and it doesn't bother me that it happened post-BCS.

They are losing almost everyone from last year's starting lineup. Kiffie got out before the boat started sinking. After Kiffin's crowing about the moral victory loss in the Swamp, word was Urban was looking forward to going to Knoxville and putting one on him in front of the home folk next year.

Urban. Old Testament kind of guy...

On the other hand I wouldn't be singing his praises if he was calling MSU players & telling them not to go to (special ed) class because he was going to get them into Ohio State....or if he refused to give his resignation speech live because he wanted a head start to get the hell out of dodge before anyone realized what was going on.

Based on all the shit that went down (burning mattresses, etc) I can't blame Kiffin for wanting to leave ASAP. :lol:

But your point is good. That's the douchebaginess I (and BN27) was referring to. Be a stand-up guy if you're going to pull something like this.

Whoa! Did I miss something? Was there a BCS agreement in 1961? The point is that Ohio State could justifiably claim crowns for '96 and/or '98 just as easily as USC claims it's non-crystalized bowl. USC is the only school I know of that has had the cojones to claim a National Championship despite not being in the BCS/NCAA/PAC 10/USC sanctioned National Championship game.

The NCAA doesn't sanction the BCS Title game.
