The NCAA doesn't sanction the BCS Title game.

oh, that's right; it's just a series of games played by member schools of the NCAA and those schools/conferences/team(s) [(s) is the notation device for Notre Your Old Lady] can jump in and out of the games/alliances/contracts any time they want to do what ever they want. Gimme a break here.

You don't see the big blue NCAA symbol in the middle of the field like you would if the NCAA ran it.

Also if the NCAA ran how D-1A went about choosing a champion, we would have a playoff because that's what the NCAA does in team sports. Instead the college football bowl structure has NEVER been seriously challenged by the NCAA nor has there really been more than a "going through the motions" attempt by the NCAA to shield that it's all about the money.

The NCAA doesn't do shit with the BCS or the National Title game. Sorry to burst your bubble.

I agree about the class thing.

Based on all the shit that went down (burning mattresses, etc) I can't blame Kiffin for wanting to leave ASAP.

But your point is good. That's the douchebaginess I (and BN27) was referring to. Be a stand-up guy if you're going to pull something like this.

I'm pretty sure we're all on the same page here.

It's one thing to say "Look X is a great, great program and I'm honored to have been the coach here. That being said Y is the job I've dreamed of my entire life. I understand that people at X are going to be angry with me and they have good cause to be so but I truly felt like I had to follow my heart."

...and quite another to yell "I'm outie...schollies for players & recruits who want to come with...K Thx Bye!" out the window as you're flooring it out of town.

They are losing almost everyone from last year's starting lineup. Kiffie got out before the boat started sinking. After Kiffin's crowing about the moral victory loss in the Swamp, word was Urban was looking forward to going to Knoxville and putting one on him in front of the home folk next year.

Urban. Old Testament kind of guy...

I'm sure that thinking is what brought Urban out of his 12 hour retirement.:wink2:

Well, they do oversee ALL the teams and conferences (who actually comprise the NCAA as an organization) involved in it, and there's only one organization whose champion is bolded on this ncaa.org site. Your point may be accurate in a technical sense, but we all know quite well the NCAA does do stuff with the BCS.

Not taking action is taking action. At the very least the NCAA gives tacit approval of the BCS system. They could chose to do many things; punish teams who participate, put together a play off system, or leave things just the way they are...

"Lane Kiffen must have pictures of someone having sex with a monkey to move up like he has." - Charles Barkley

Maybe it was an NCAA orgy...

I'd have some sympathy for Kiffen, Kelly, RR and others who have picked up and moved on if the system gave similar protection to the athletes affected by their (the coaches) choices.

Just heard that Monte Kiffin had a salary of $1mil with no buyout. He also received a $300,000 longevity bonus on Dec. 31st for staying one year at Tennessee. He's cashed that check just last week. Local sports reporters are calling Monte out....If he has any moral fortitude.....he'd return that money to UT.

I actually disagree with this, it is Tennessee's fault for being stupid enough to put a "longevity' bonus in a contract for someone after one year, if he doesn't deserve the money then don't put it in the contract...
