I'm sure it will have a major effect on OTs from Minnesota considering USC & OSU. The dominoes have fallen

So you're telling me there's a chance?

Yikes...as an FSU and OSU fan, all I can say is I hope FSU gets its stuff together. His best route towards the NFL certanily WAS NOT Tallahassee. From an FSU fan. The development just HAS NOT been there.

That being said, if Jimbo is that confident in what he can accomplish and Terrelle Buckley's ability to move players to next level, good for him. All I know is.....Malcolm Jenkins, Donte Whitner, Ashton Youboty, Tyler Everett, Nate Salley, Chris Gamble, Donnie Nickey, Mike Doss, Antonio Smith, Brandon Mitchell.....I mean the list is continuous...

FSU has struggled so much with development lately, especially in the DB category...hell, Tony Carter didn't even get drafted last year as a top recruit coming in when he signed. Good for Lamarcus and his choice of FSU, I just truly feel his best choice as far as making a career out of playing on Sunday's was not in Tallahassee. Maybe the NFL isn't option #1. Maybe his degree and staying a bit closer to home is....

Win-Win for me though. I'll be happy to watch him in Garnet and Gold.

Ugh..... I felt like I have been punched in the stomach. I wanted joyner and shaw so bad. If we get hicks and that CBS from glenville ill be happy.

Agreed to an extent but I always hear this "if we get so and so, I'll be happy", yet if we miss on the majority of that list, the expectations change. It's called Cognitive Dissonance theory...we realign our perceptions to match what we want to feel. Major Wright would be starting at safety here, Barksdale (though the butt of recruiting riddicule even for me) is having a successful career at guard for LSU, Anthony Davis is an All-American tackle that is a likely first round pick as a junior, and barring his severe injury Ben Martin could have been big time. Missing elite players like Joyner is never easy, but especially when we have invested so much time and expectations. It was broadly conceived that we would land Joyner and the staff seemed confident and was in frequent contact. Same with Shaw. To have both turn sour so quickly really could cripple our options at corner, as both Bryant and Anderson are likely safeties (assuming Anderson has grades and isn't sending smoke signals about WVU).

The good news is that we stocked up in '08 and '09 with big time talent, so hopefully it pans out because it is looking sparse late in the game. If Heard says no (who could be a RB anyways), the dropoff from Shaw and Joyner would likely be big. I think we'll be fine missing Joyner considering the position, but sometimes there does seem to be ripple effects and I hope this isn't one of them. I never thought we were getting Hicks but if we miss James, Henderson, Floyd and Hankins (which is completely possible), this class would be unlikely to end up a top 25 class imo, which should be a given at OSU regardless of the staff. Good luck to LJ but it is just a tough one to take, he is going to be a star. I know some people will be upset by this but just an honest assessment. Not doom and gloom, but not pie in the sky.

Did Tressel get his home visit in before he commited? Just curious how this all went down.

My understanding is that the staff never got that far.

I am guessing that the message was delivered at school that he was going to FSU, the staff probably congratulated him and moved on. But that is a total guess.

I said before that new coaches have a recruiting advantage because they can sell a conceptual future without fear of being reputed. If a major program is down they can sell the idea that they are bringing about change. Granted, Fisher was a strong part of the FSU past, but with Luc and Joyner he has solid evidence of change.
