For real. From what I've seen he looks like a safety to me..

I'll say this, despite a few friends I have who think to the contrary and haven't seen LJ play in person like I have, the man can play corner with every single WR in Miami (and you know the kind of receivers that come out of this area). Granted, he could play safety and I bet with the intensity and power that LJ can hit, he could even play LB in some formations. To describe it accurately, when LJ hits, it's kind of like a grenade going off next to whomever is carring the ball. Or it's like that Soviet guy in Rocky IV says, "Whatever he hits, he destroys."

I don't know, he could be a Mike Doss/Donte Whitner type safety but I think if we land him we'll keep him at corner due to size and the fact that in our zone heavy defensive scheme we use corners who might be safeties at other schools (Tyler Everett, Antonio Smith, Malcolm Jenkins, Donald Washington, Dustin Fox, etc.). If he plays safety in college I suspect it would be for the same reason he plays it in high school: to get a great plamaker and hitter like him in space and in position to make more plays all over the field, not just on one side.

Does he hold his own against taller receivers? Is he able to fight for the ball in the air?

Yes, he does. In fact, he holds his own when he is the receiver himself even.

There is a section of the clip that genron187 showed

Look at 5:55 in the video above. This was a TD reception LJ made that I saw (from the opposite side of the field from the angle shown in the video) when he played Berry's Palmetto team in the state playoffs and notice just how high LJ jumps over the taller defender, that defender is 6'1" going from my Palmetto roster.

His tackling reminds me a lot of Malcolm Jenkins (two words: reckless abandon), and though he had a good angle to make the play on Jaamal Berry, he DID catch up with him. There is no question about that speed.

The kid's a player and has the whole package. I'm excited to see some SR year film of him! Why can't it be the fall already?

In May, there is Spring football practice down here and it's followed up by a jamboree game at the end of May. I usually just go to my alumni, Palmetto, and sometimes a few neighboring schools on off nights and their games but we'll have to see what night Columbus is playing. Columbus is usually a good team to watch anyway and they have a talented running back in Jakari Gore. Over the 30 years I have seen football down here, those spring games seem to get better and better and recruiters seem to pop up more often in the Spring than they do in the fall.

That is an amazing piece of film. Hits like a Major Wright or Eric Berry. Freeken returns were nothing short of Ginnesque. Looked a lot like Reggie Bush's HS tape with some of those cut backs.

I normaly don't get all fired up about any one recruit. Ginn...yes. Beanie....yes.

Mr Joyner has just been added to my list. What a talent. Wow.

The collisions over the middle reminds a lot of Major Wright. He does tackle well like Scott, but the thing that's different about him is that he also closes space very fast and is a great blitzer as well. Imagine having him, Nate Williams and Dorian Bell on one side of the field. Forget about getting to the outside.

He wraps up too. He's had good coaching on the fundamentals. Major Wright was all over the place...could hit like a truck but would bounce off so many guys. LJ does not.
