DORAL CHENOWETH III DISPATCH Star Allen, left, Jessica Davenport, center, and Marscilla Packer look at the NCAA Tournament bracket showing them as a No. 4 seed.
Stony silence that would have made a Western movie hero proud ruled the living room last night in the home of Ohio State women?s basketball coach Jim Foster.
The Buckeyes, the Big Ten regular-season champions, had just learned they were deemed a No. 4 seed in the Dayton regional for the NCAA Tournament. The lack of reaction fairly screamed the players? opinions of a perceived lack of respect.

Even though they are a four, they should have an easy road to the sweet sixteen. First against marist and then the winner of ETSU or gonzaga.

Get by that then they will most likely face Tennessee in Dayton, so you never know. But without hoskins, chances aren't great that they beat tennessee.

Ohio State vs. Purdue, the Sequel, was a film best viewed from the Buckeyes? perspective with the doors locked, the windows shuttered and the covers pulled up tight.

The joke in and around New York City is that nothing exists west of the Hudson River.
On the northern fringe of Gotham?s metropolitan area, however, in Poughkeepsie, an East Coast coach can?t stop talking about the bountiful faraway land of Ohio, where high school girls basketball talent grows like corn (or weeds, in NYC parlance).

Ohio State coach Jim Foster must rally his team for a tournament run without star guard Brandie Hoskins.
A year ago, the Ohio State women?s basketball players exploded out of their chairs as soon as the NCAA Tournament bracket showed them with the No. 1 seed in the West Regional.

OHIO STATE WOMEN?S BASKETBALL
Buckeyes want to go further
Intent on deep run in tournament, team focused in practice

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

PALO ALTO, Calif. ? In the quiet before the storm that is the NCAA Tournament, Ohio State took a quiet first look at Maples Pavilion yesterday afternoon.
As beautiful as the day was, business dominated the thoughts of the players, because business often overwhelms dreams at this time of the year. Fourth-seeded Ohio State (28-3) plays 13 th-seeded Marist (27-5) at about 10:30 tonight in a first-round Dayton Regional game. A year ago, Ohio State had a trip to the Final Four in mind when it carried a No. 1 seed into the tournament. Instead, the Buckeyes suffered a galling second-round upset loss to Boston College.

ohio state just got upset by marist

Not to take anything away from Marist, they played a great game, are well coached and had a good game plan, but the Lady Bucks played horribly. I think Davenport may have had more turnovers than she did points. (I know at one time she had 11 pts and 11 turnovers).

That's a shame. They just seemed like they didn't have anything left after a hell of a year. You could see the life slipping away from them in the second half against Purdue in the tourney. Obviously, they never regained it. I'm sure Coach Foster will come back with a deeper team and a more varied attack next year. He is a great great coach and we're lucky to have him...

Marist Outfoxes Heavily Favored Ohio St.

By JANIE McCAULEY
AP Sports Writer
STANFORD, Calif. ? Marist would not be bullied into an early exit this March. The gutsy Red Foxes drew offensive fouls and scrapped with a bigger, more physical Ohio State team, shocking the heavily favored Buckeyes 67-63 on Saturday night to reach the second round for the first time in school history.

Thanks to the Big Ten Champion Lady Bucks for an incredible season. It is so incredibly unfortunate that an injury to a key player so totally interfered with what you might have accomplished.

We are incredibly proud of you!
